Hold this and welcome to this three-minute meditation and reality contemplation.
We'll meditate for three minutes on a meditation object.
So take a moment,
Pick a meditation object,
I'll be using the breath,
And get yourself into a position where you can meditate continuously on your object,
The goal of unbroken attention on that object for three minutes.
So if you need to pause this now and then resume.
We'll follow this up with a brief contemplation.
We'll follow this up with a brief contemplation.
We'll follow this up with a brief contemplation.
So,
Were you able to keep your attention continuously?
Did the quality and degree of the attention change?
Why can't we lock consistent,
Unchanging attention to something without it wavering or changing or without distraction?
Perhaps then consider that in life,
And especially noticeable in meditation,
We sometimes think we should be able to keep consistent,
Unchanging attention to something.
Maybe we can now better see how this erroneous view,
Deceptively defaulting to expecting consistencies in life,
Can result in stress and unsatisfactoriness.
