This is beautiful. My first listen, I found the music soothing and the poetry surprising. I set it on repeat and tried to do nothing else but be present with the music and words. I’m not a religious person and sometimes notice myself emotionally or mentally retract when I hear the word “God” (capital G), and probably even more when the words Lord, Christ, or Saviour are used in conjunction with “God.” (Clearly, I still have more work to do in that arena! 😛) Despite that repulsion, when I can get beyond the titles/names and enter the moment with an open heart, I can feel a spirit of something that seems divine or sacred move through me. When that happens, I’m reminded that - at least in my opinion - the name/title/words we use to describe or identify the source which grounds (and elevates) us is irrelevant; such identifiers can sometimes be distractions from truly connecting to the source within.
The poem, which initially struck me as simplistic, became more beautiful and striking with every repeat. My favorite stanzas are:
I want to see you
Just as the night sees the stars
To hold space for your beauty
So you shine light into this world of ours
I would love to see you
In the way the desert sees the rain
To empty myself completely
To receive all of you without complaint
Thank you for sharing this (your?) poetry and music with us.
