Daily Energy Check In
Sometimes we know we’re off, but we can’t quite name why. Our energy feels tangled, our mood dips, or something just feels “off”—yet the cause stays just out of reach. This short practice is designed to help you pause, breathe, and gently tune in to what’s really going on beneath the surface. Through a simple breathing exercise and a guided energy check‑in, you’ll learn to slow down enough to notice what your body and emotions have been trying to tell you. This session helps you identify what’s bothering you, acknowledge it with compassion, and release just enough tension to return to your best self.

Welcome.
Today we're going to learn how to do a daily check-in to make sure that our energy is intact.
What we're learning about in psychology today is really fascinating.
What we're learning is that five deep diaphragmatic breaths five times a day can help calm us down,
Reduce stress,
Calm our nervous system,
And give us a better sense of overall well-being.
So what is a diaphragmatic breath?
A diaphragmatic breath is one that comes right from the bottom of our lungs.
So rather than the breath that most of us take as we're speaking or with people throughout the day,
Which is quite shallow.
A diaphragmatic breath will actually extend and contract our stomach as we breathe.
So if we're able to take five quick breaks in a day to take five breaths,
This enhances our wellbeing in a huge way.
What I like to do in addition to this is to add a little check-in to our breath routine.
So oftentimes throughout the day,
For no apparent reason,
We can start to feel a little cranky or off-centered or just that we're not quite feeling like ourselves.
And most of the time,
We have to be honest,
We're not quite sure what's bothering us.
So it's important to check in with different elements of our well-being to see what might be going on.
We can quickly do this by asking just a quick little barometer test of what sort of thoughts am I thinking today?
Am I having positive thoughts or I'm having ruminating thoughts of going over and over lots of negative self-talk?
What's happening in our thought process?
Next moving on just a quick little check to see what's happening in our emotions Then moving on to the physical well-being.
Are we hungry?
Are we tired?
And just checking to see what's happening physically in our body.
Then also checking in to see socially,
How are we interacting with the people around us?
How is that impacting us?
And so I'd like to take you through just a little exercise doing this together so that you can learn how to do it on your own.
So I'd invite you to just close your eyes and just settle into your breath.
And we're gonna take our five deep breaths together.
So just maybe placing your hand on your stomach.
Taking a nice big deep breath in.
And as you take a breath in,
Push your stomach out with that breath,
Filling the lungs entirely and then letting it go.
And another breath in.
I'm releasing that.
And again.
Letting it go.
And another.
Letting it go And one more breath in.
And releasing.
Just take a scan of your body head to toe.
Just starting with your thoughts.
Just pay attention to what thoughts are floating through your mind.
Not judging them.
Not analyzing them,
Just noting the theme.
Then moving on to your emotional well-being.
Just taking again a test.
Emotions are you feeling in your body?
Again,
Not good or bad.
Just there.
And then physically what are you noticing?
What are the areas of tension that may be there?
Are you hungry?
Are you tired?
And then socially moving on.
Are you feeling lonely?
Are you feeling connected?
Feeling irritated by others or peace with others.
Again,
Not judging just noticing.
And then just energetically taking a snapshot of all of those things together.
Taking a little test of where you're sitting at in this moment.
And then you can take another nice big deep breath in.
And as you let that go,
Start to come back into the room.
This is something you can do that's nice,
Quick and easy.
I often do it in the morning on lunch break coffee breaks at the end of the day and especially when something seems to be not quite right but i'm not sure why nine times out of ten it helps me to locate what might be unsettled in my body I thank you so much for spending your beautiful,
Precious time with me.
Have a lovely day.
