In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Sage Patanjali offers us steps and practices for spiritual growth, the path towards meditation, towards Yoga, and ultimately to self-realization. In chapter one, the second sutra is "Yoga Chitti Vritti Nirodha.” Yoga is the silencing of the fluctuation, movements, or patterns of our mind. When we stand still, we pause those movements or fluctuations of the Vrittis - memories, desires, fear, greed, judgment in our Chitta-mind. That's when Yoga happens! Meditation happens!
