This meditation practice is designed to demonstrate that where our attention goes,
Energy flows.
We will explore this concept on the level of the physical body,
But it is worth considering how this applies to other areas of our life and how we can apply this concept to our own self-transformation.
And take a few moments to get yourself settled for this short meditation practice.
For this practice,
I recommend sitting up either on your cushion,
In a chair,
Or even in your bed.
Feel free to pause this recording so you have enough time to get comfortable.
Begin by softening your body,
Releasing any held tension in your muscles.
Send a message to your body through your brain,
Saying to yourself mentally,
I can let go,
I can soften.
Allow your eyes to gently close if they aren't already,
And take a conscious,
Smooth breath in through your nose,
Expanding your abdomen slightly as you inhale.
Pause.
Open your lips and slowly release your exhale through the mouth.
Do this twice more,
Letting each breath bring a sense of ease to your body,
To your mind.
Now,
Keeping your eyes closed,
Hold your hands out in front of you,
About level with your abdomen or chest,
With your elbows bent at about 90 degrees.
The palms of your hands should be facing each other,
Fingers soft,
Hands about six to eight inches apart.
Simply begin to focus your attention on your hands.
Feel the backs of your hands,
All 10 fingers,
The palms of your hands.
Become even more aware of your palms,
Focusing all of your attention here.
Notice how live your hands feel.
What sensations are present?
Can you feel pulsation,
Tingling,
Warmth,
Perhaps even a subtle vibration?
As you grow more and more aware of your palms,
You may notice that your palms are more relaxed and more relaxed.
Feel the palms of your hands as you grow more and more aware of your palms.
You may even notice that you can almost feel the space between your palms.
Become aware of the space between your palms.
Now begin to slowly,
Gently separate your hands a little bit.
Pause.
Notice how this feels.
Now slowly bring your hands together.
Feel the palms of your hands,
As you slowly separate your hands,
A little closer than they were before.
Maybe let your fingers curl a bit.
And continue like this,
Slowly separating your hands,
Bringing them together.
Continuing to focus on feeling the sensations in your hands shifting and changing.
Pause.
You may start to feel something that feels almost like a magnetic force or a tangible energy field emanating from your palms.
Pause.
Keep exploring this intuitively,
Maybe even imagining you're shaping a ball of energy with your hands.
If your mind begins to wander,
Focus more intently on the sensations.
Slowly lower your hands,
Let them rest on your thighs or in your lap.
Rest in stillness for a moment,
Noticing how you feel physically,
How you feel energetically,
And how you feel mentally.
So through this short meditation,
Hopefully you were able to realize that we must carefully choose where we place our attention because where our attention goes,
Energy flows.
