But I think that meditation is definitely a way forward because our hearts are so powerful but a lot of what we do comes from the mind.
A lot of what we do is very cerebral,
Cognitive.
A lot of what we do comes from our thoughts rather than our feelings.
We've learnt over the centuries to actually discount our feelings.
And so when we start to begin to actually be able to meditate,
Actually the only thing we really need to do,
However we meditate or whatever we call meditation,
Because meditation is not just about sitting in silence despite what people think,
It's actually about switching off what I would call the left brain.
Because the left brain is the part of us that is conditioned.
The part of us that holds all the information about who we are or who we think we are.
And that information,
I would say,
Contracts us.
That information limits our possibilities.
So for me meditation is a great tool however we do it because what meditation allows us to do is to start bringing in a bit more of the right brain.
Now if your jobs or your lives are creative you're probably using the right side of your brain but meditation actually does something different.
What meditation does,
No matter how long you do it,
It begins to connect the left side and the right side of the brain.
And when the two sides of the brain connect,
A communication occurs between the brain,
The mind and the heart.
And so there is a communication that is always,
Always flowing from your heart but you're not always aware of it.
Most people are not aware.
You might get moments where you have a feeling where you think,
Oh yeah,
You know,
This hurts or my heart is,
You know,
Feeling this or I feel this.
But actually the heart is communicating on a much,
Much deeper level.
There's a lot of studies being done through HeartMath where they're talking about the importance of heart coherence.
And so when the heart is communicating but we're not aware of it,
We're missing out on information that is guiding us in terms of where our genuine happiness lies,
Where we can grow,
Where we can prosper,
Where we can actually be so much more successful in the world.
So meditation,
When we're connecting with the mind,
When the two parts of the brain begin to connect and they connect with the heart energy,
The heart energy actually becomes transformed very easily.
Because the heart is always guiding you,
I would say that it's always giving you signals,
It's always bringing people,
Situations,
Experiences into your life that need to be healed.
And then I'm not talking about wounds,
You know,
Because we can think about healing in terms of a deep wound or a deep hurt.
I'm talking about healing that needs to happen on a kind of a global basis,
Healing that needs to happen for all of us to transform the way we have been living our whole lives,
To start living so much more connected to ourselves and therefore so much connected to nature and therefore so much more connected to other people around us.
So we're no longer making choices on a secular level,
We're making choices on a much more global level because that transformation needs to happen.
