The Gift Of Self Compassion
Our lives change profoundly when we cultivate self compassion. This meditation is an opportunity to let go of the subtle undercurrent of self-criticism, doubt and judgement that so many of us experience. Amazingly, when we do this, we open up to receiving our own wisdom. The question: are you brave enough to listen?

A warm welcome to you.
My name is Fleur Chambers.
I am the voice behind the Happy Habit Meditation app.
And today it is my pleasure to spend this time with you on Insight Timer.
So please,
Settle in.
And together,
Let's enjoy a moment to let go of the subtle undercurrent of self-criticism,
Doubt and judgment that so often feeds our body and mind with stories that we aren't enough.
Stories that somehow we should be more.
Instead,
Let's enjoy a moment of peace and ease that comes from knowing that right here,
Right now,
You are exactly where you are meant to be and it's safe to let down your guard.
Allowing your eyes to gently close if it pleases you today.
These closed eyes sending a message to your mind,
Body and heart that you are ready to move your awareness from your external world towards your inner world.
Together,
Enjoying a slow deep breath in,
Pausing at the top,
Long smooth exhale,
Letting go of the busyness of the day.
Letting go of the busyness of the day.
Again,
Slow deep breath in,
Gentle pause at the top,
Long smooth exhale,
Letting go of the responsibilities,
The expectations,
The concerns.
One more time together,
Full breath in,
Gentle pause,
Long smooth exhale,
Letting the whispers of doubt and judgement go.
Body softening,
Mind slowing,
Awareness deepening.
Really giving yourself permission to arrive into this moment.
And as you sink a little deeper,
Reminding yourself that there is nowhere else you need to be,
That it's okay to take this time for yourself.
If this feels hard to fully accept,
Perhaps reminding yourself that everyone in your life benefits when you take care of yourself,
When you spend time connecting with the deeper parts of you.
Allowing your awareness to rest on your breath.
No need to change your breath in any way.
It's perfect,
Just as it is.
Being with your breath with a sense of warm hearted curiosity.
Each inhale,
An opportunity to receive,
To welcome in.
Each exhale,
An opportunity to let go,
To surrender.
Each inhale,
An opportunity to let go,
To surrender.
Each exhale,
An opportunity to let go,
To surrender.
If thoughts come,
That's perfectly natural.
When you are able,
Returning your attention to your breath once more.
And as you do this,
Offering yourself a smile for coming back to your practice is a sign of self compassion.
Each breath,
Soothing you.
Each breath,
Bringing your mind and body together into this moment.
Each breath,
Guiding you home.
Home to something that feels more steady,
More peaceful,
More enduring than your busy mind.
Can you feel it?
Can you sense it?
Almost as if you are the quiet sea bed that lays beneath an ocean full of waves.
The external world is busy,
But here in this moment you feel steady,
Grounded and at ease.
Deep breath into this sense of groundedness.
And now as best you can,
Directing your breath into the centre of your chest or your heart.
Each breath flowing like a river into your heart.
Each breath softening any walls around your heart that are caused by the demands of everyday life.
Heart gently awakening.
Heart softly opening like a flower in the morning sun.
Resting here in this sense of openness,
In this sense of your own warmth.
Maybe you can really feel this connection.
Maybe you don't feel much at all.
Whatever your experience is,
Is just right.
Slow deep breath in.
Long smooth exhale.
Opening into connection with your heart.
Opening to any sense of relaxation,
Warmth or ease.
Imagining now that you are floating above yourself.
And as you look down you can see yourself exactly as you are right now.
Really taking in this version of you who is sitting or lying in meditation.
You see.
Deep breath in.
Long smooth exhale.
From this perspective above you really begin to see this you who tries their best every day.
This you who cares for others wholeheartedly.
This you who holds the happiness of family and friends in their mind and heart every day.
This you who is quietly brave,
Who is showing up for their one precious life.
Slow deep breath in.
Long smooth exhale.
In this moment it is perfectly clear.
This version of you deserves your support,
Your compassion,
Your love.
And so you whisper in your mind,
I am here for you.
I support you.
I accept you exactly as you are.
I love you.
Breathing deep into these words.
As best you can allowing these words to feel true for you in this moment.
With each breath allowing this quiet compassion to grow.
And now imagining that you are your wisest self.
The truest,
Most pure version of you.
And that you are floating even higher above yourself as you sit or lie in meditation.
This pure version of you who is loving,
Forgiving,
Compassionate and wise is looking down on you in this moment.
What does this version of you see?
What would this more pure version of you have the you that is sitting in meditation know?
What message do they have for you?
Allowing words,
Feelings,
Colours or images to come to mind and heart.
Really receiving your own wisdom here.
Returning your awareness to your body breathing.
Our lives change profoundly when we learn to be more self compassionate.
When we learn to forgive ourselves.
To let go of the high expectations we place upon ourselves.
When we learn to be more friendly and accepting.
So now allowing a word,
Feeling,
Image or phrase to come to mind.
One that can act as a compass over the coming days.
Guiding you back to your own wisdom,
Your own compassion.
Breathing it in.
Breathing it out.
Placing it land within.
Rubbing your hands together.
Feeling your own warmth.
Feeling them somewhere on your body as a sign of self compassion.
Opening your eyes to your external world.
And noticing if your gaze feels a little softer.
Will you take this inner sense of compassion out into the world for the benefit of all those around you.
