From Shadow Work To Enlightenment And Beyond
This lesson focuses on the wholeness of life, we live in a society where we are split we are told we have a higher self and a lower self or we have a shadow side and a light side, these are divisions and they will keep you divided and farther away from your true self.

So what do the mystics mean when they say that you already have it?
You're already it.
You don't need to do anything because you're already it.
In fact,
Everything you do,
Everything you try,
Will actually lead you away from your center,
Away from what you already are,
What your Buddhahood really is.
In fact,
Everything you do,
Even meditation in a way,
Can lead you away from the path and lead you away from your center.
So if you want to find out more and have a greater insight into what I'm about to share with you,
Then join me.
My name is Douglas Gromins and this is another version of how to make your life better and how to be a complete person.
There are many people out there that say that there are two selves.
There's the higher self and the lower self.
And then there are also those out there that say that there is shadow work to be done.
And what they mean by shadow work is a little alluring and it sounds mystical,
But basically shadow work is accepting all the negative traits about you,
All the bad things that you're having to deal with on a daily basis or a weekly basis.
But when you say that there's a higher self and a lower self,
Then it creates a division,
A division within you.
Then you become two,
You become split,
You become almost schizophrenic in a way.
And I have read and I quite agree and understand with this statement that the higher self,
The lower self,
The shadow self and the bright self,
Even though society creates these definitions to help you cope and have you learn to address the situation,
Address the shadow self,
The dark side of yourself,
When you accept the dark side and the light side as one total being,
Then your life actually makes a change.
And when you address the dark side,
You are now accepting a part of you that you've probably pushed aside or pushed deep down underneath your conscious mind into your subconscious.
I often use the words of great tantric masters like Tilopia and Tilopia says that if you accept everything as a whole and not deny anything,
Don't deny that you have these faults.
Don't deny that a part of you needs working on and that working on that part will actually increase your energy and increase your vibration and help you to grow in a way.
But you might ask that along this path of addressing your shadow self and addressing your faults and facing them and accepting them as a part of you,
In a way is like salt.
Everybody has a little bit of salt to them.
And if you didn't have any salt to you,
You'd be tasteless.
And vice versa,
If you had too much salt,
Then you'd be beyond anyone's help.
So a right balance has to be made.
Just the right amount of salt.
And you'll find that when you accept yourself,
These things that you have,
Anger,
Jealousy,
Greed,
Whatever your ailments are,
Nothing is that bad.
Nothing is so bad that it can't be addressed and accepted.
And when you accept everything,
Then you start this journey onto this wholeness.
But you might ask,
Well,
What about the higher self and the lower self?
You just mentioned.
And what about not having to do any work towards anything?
Well,
I'll give you a little insight and a little understanding that's taken me years to understand myself.
Our energy centers,
These chakras that exist in our bodies,
And almost like outside of our bodies at the same time,
The energy centers vibrate quite loudly and they resonate not just inside of you,
But they also resonate a little bit outside of you too.
Well,
The lower self,
The lower four chakras,
I could say the lower three,
And then the touching of the fourth.
But the lower three chakras,
The physical,
The emotional,
And the intellectual,
Those are the energies of the lower three chakras.
And then the fourth chakra is the heart chakra,
Which is right in the middle,
Right in the very center between the lower three and the upper three.
The upper three chakras,
The throat,
The third eye,
And the crown,
Are something basically connected with another world,
With the other side.
And don't let that scare you because it's still a part of you.
In most cases in life,
Most people don't raise their energy up past the heart chakra.
They live in the lower three.
And I know I've said this in other videos,
But I have to keep repeating it.
So what happens is that if you never raise your energy up into the heart chakra and you pass away,
Then you're doomed to repeat these lessons and start over and given another chance.
And I think for the most part that we're given many,
Many chances,
Maybe millions of chances,
To get this right and to figure it out.
And what's cool to understand is that this lower self and the higher self,
At night when you're asleep,
It connects.
And when you're not doing anything,
When you're not thinking,
You let go and you submit to sleep,
Then your energy automatically raises up and goes past the heart chakra,
Up into the throat chakra,
Up into the third eye,
And then eventually into the crown.
And when you get into the crown,
That's when you're having moments of deep sleep.
You don't stay there for long,
Maybe five,
Six minutes at a time,
Maybe 30 minutes at the most,
When you're in a deep,
Deep,
Deep sleep.
But then you shift back to the REM sleep,
Which is your dream state,
And that's more associated with the third eye chakra.
And then you spend most of your time shifting back in between the crown and the third eye.
And all this is beautiful and everything.
And it really applies when you think about when the mystics say that you don't need to do anything.
So it naturally happens at night when you sleep,
But it's a very,
Very short period,
Like five or six seconds,
That you actually have this communion with existence,
This communion with God that He or she comes down and touches you and fills you with enough energy to face the next day.
And it all happens to do with these upper chakras.
But the cool thing is,
And I'm beating the bush again,
That if you meditate and you learn the trick—here's the trick,
It's doing without doing.
The trick is to have action without action.
It's meditating and then letting go.
Almost like when you're falling asleep,
You have this let go,
But consciously you let go and you just be aware of the moment.
You be 100% conscious and into the present moment.
And when that happens,
When you're conscious,
You'll feel the energy go up into the throat,
Up into the third eye,
And then into the crown.
And it takes years sometimes for this to work.
It depends on how much you put into it.
But like I said,
You have to learn the trick.
And that's why the masters say that you're already it.
I mean,
All this stuff is already happening inside of you.
You're just not conscious.
You're not aware.
And being aware is the key.
And being aware and having awareness is the main key because without awareness,
You'll fall back and the ego will take over and always try to come in and approach from the back door.
The ego is very tricky.
And this awareness that you have will help keep you aware and keep the ego from coming in.
Because as soon as the ego comes in,
Then it destroys your connection,
Your connection with existence.
You might start feeling proud like wow,
I meditate and I raise my energy up so high and I feel like I'm almost a Buddha and all these things.
And if that happens,
Then you don't meditate as much.
You lose that desire to reach those heights.
So let's talk about those heights for a second.
The thing they call samadhi.
Samadhi is one of the most mysterious things in the world.
But the three levels of samadhi also coincide with the throat chakra,
The third eye chakra and the crown chakra.
And to experience samadhi,
You can't even be meditating.
You have to basically dissolve.
So all your meditation techniques,
All your chanting,
Your omms,
Your omamadhi padme hums,
Your practicing counting or maybe just being aware and feeling the gaps,
All that is an effort.
And that's what the Buddhas mean by look,
You're never going to attain enlightenment from meditating or chanting or studying mantras.
Nothing you can do,
No scripture is ever going to get you to experience samadhi,
To experience enlightenment until you drop everything.
And that's why I say it is a trick.
It's like a skateboard.
It's like a surfing trick.
And the whole key is once you start experiencing samadhi,
Mystical things really start happening.
And in your life,
I will tell you a little story.
Years ago when I first started meditating,
What got me into meditation was basically reading Frederick Lenz's book Surfing the Himalayas,
Which is a really good book.
And then Snowboarding to Nirvana was the second one,
I think.
And I love both of those books.
But as I read the books and bought into what Frederick Lenz was saying,
It was great learning the things in his books because there were certain techniques of chanting and certain ways to meditate and techniques to use while meditating.
So that was a great start for me.
But there was something about it that just didn't seem right.
I didn't quite understand it.
So I went into meditation with that thought one day that I just don't know what it is,
But something don't seem right about what he's saying.
And so I went into meditation.
And as I was disappearing into existence and going into samadhi,
This name popped into my mind right out of the blue,
Just Maxwell.
And I'm like,
Well,
What was that?
What does what does Maxwell mean?
So anyway,
I put the the thought out of my mind.
And a couple weeks later,
I was visiting the East Coast and I went to the Edgar Cayce Library at the Edgar Cayce Center in Virginia Beach.
They had this massive esoteric library full of a bunch of Osho's work,
A bunch of great mystics works like Alan Watts and all kinds of spiritual literature that just blow your mind.
I mean,
You could spend hours in there.
But anyway,
They they had the old card file system in there.
And I was looking up Frederick Lenz.
And I come to the card file on one of Frederick Lenz's first books.
And there was the name Maxwell.
And I'm like,
Whoa,
Is that the Maxwell that popped into my mind?
And it turned out that Frederick Lenz co-wrote one of his first books with a guy named Maxwell.
So anyway,
I,
It kind of made sense that that what this guy was saying,
When I read his first book,
And realized that maybe he didn't really know what enlightenment was.
I'm not trying to put him down in any way.
Like I said,
He was a great author,
And the books were wonderful to read.
And they inspired me in many ways.
But you know,
You had this sense about you.
And when you start meditating,
And you start raising energy up into the heart,
And up into the up into your higher self,
Basically,
Energy just starts flowing upwards.
Because when you meditate,
There's a law of levitation applies.
Normally,
Gravity applies,
The law of gravity is pulling us down to the earth,
It's keeping us rooted,
Which we need,
We definitely need rooting.
But when you meditate,
The law of levitation applies,
And you start raising energy in the opposite direction.
And man is the only man and woman,
Excuse me,
Is the only beings that I know of in nature that have these upper three chakras.
It may be possible that other animals have it.
I don't,
I don't think so.
It hasn't been proven,
Or there's been no scientific evidence towards it.
But as as as intelligent as some animals are,
We are the connection.
We are the connection between us and God.
With our minds living very close to the crown chakra,
We are the only ones that have minds like we do.
We're the only ones that can think like we do.
With such super complex thoughts that we can theorize how existence began.
You know,
That's pretty marvelous to even think about that we can theorize on something so grand.
But we're the only animals that can do that.
So what all this means is that you have to learn to do the impossible,
Basically,
To do without doing.
And it's possible,
You can do it.
I do it all the time.
And then and then comes the other end of the spectrum.
Okay.
Once you become enlightened,
You don't have to meditate anymore.
You become meditative,
It becomes a part of you.
So you really don't have to meditate.
You don't have to study scriptures anymore.
You don't have to do anything anymore.
You've reached the other shore.
The goal of life is if there's any goal.
But then again,
The funny thing about life is that when you're so into something,
Then it just like a shadow,
It follows you for the rest of your life.
Even if you become enlightened,
You'll still be into spirituality,
You'll still be into meditation,
You'll still be into all the things that got you there in the first place.
I mean,
Think about it like this.
Like I surf,
I skateboard,
I do a lot of things like skydiving,
Like I'm passionate about these things.
And I will spend most of my free time if I'm not reading about spirituality or spending my time in a book.
I am mind surfing waves on TV.
I'm watching other surfers,
Or watching shows about surfing or reading magazines about surfing.
You know,
You get what I'm saying?
I mean,
When you love something,
It just becomes a part of you.
And it ignites a fire in you.
And once that fire is lit,
Then it stays lit.
And as long as you have this passion for life,
This passion for love,
You're still going to meditate.
You're still going to be a part of you.
But you don't need to try anymore.
You don't have to put out any effort.
You could go months upon months without meditating,
And you still feel the same because you're on the other shore.
You made it.
And that can never be taken away from you.
I want you to remember that.
And one of the deepest lessons that I could ever give to you is that once you've made it to the other shore,
That's permanent.
That will stay with you forever.
Another note is that enlightenment is a peak experience.
It is one of the highest peaks,
Even higher than Everest.
It's the highest peak that exists in human consciousness.
And samadhi also is another peak of consciousness,
But it's super consciousness,
Then cosmic consciousness,
And the highest forms of godliness that exist when you're experiencing samadhi on the highest level,
On the crown chakra.
But like I said,
The ego will try to come in and destroy it.
And also,
If you want to experience samadhi,
If you want to experience enlightenment,
These peak experiences,
Then there cannot be two.
You have to dissolve.
When you go to your center,
There's only room for one.
Normally,
When you're not at your center,
Then God's there taking control and guiding you through life,
Whether you know it or not.
It's just a part of life.
So if you go and travel to your center,
And if you're there,
Then there's no room for God to be there.
There can only be one.
So you have to learn to dissolve.
And when I say dissolve,
You have to be totally receptive.
It's a feminine energy for sure.
But that's the only way to realize godliness is to dissolve into it,
To become one.
Let the higher self and the lower self combine through meditation,
Through the act of meditation,
And then the learning to not even meditate,
Basically to just sit there and relax and be totally relaxed and dissolve into existence.
And then all the miracles start happening in life,
And all the mystical things start happening in life.
And like I said,
So many mystical things can happen along your path.
But you have to learn also that when you become an experienced meditator,
Then you can drop meditation,
You don't need to meditate.
But that lingering feel will still be there.
And if you want to experience samadhi in its highest form,
Then you'll have to go into a deep meditation and then dissolve into existence and become one with everything.
And you can never look for it.
If you're looking,
Then there's two,
Right?
You're still split.
So you have to dissolve and become one.
And that's the greatest mystery in the pinnacle of meditation,
The pinnacle of life.
It all starts with accepting the lower and the higher,
The shadow and the light self are all one.
There are not there is not two,
There is only one.
And you are it.
So anyway,
Thank you,
Pete folks for joining me and listening to this insightful little talk.
I hope I've touched someone's heart out there and encourage somebody to go a little deeper,
Take the next step.

So turn in,
Turn on and enjoy your lives.
