The Shift That Must Happen Before Enlightenment
This lecture goes into deep detail on how to shift from time or the mind into eternity. Our minds need time and thoughts need space in order to exist. But the mind should not be the master, we have to learn to shift. Then the real master, our consciousness, becomes the master.

Hello and welcome once again.
My name is Douglas Grummans.
I'm glad to join you today on our beautiful island in Texas.
We have great weather outside.
There's a little bit of waves going on,
So a little excited that after we get this recording nailed down,
We will go out and ride some of those beautiful waves and have a good day.
But today's discussion is going to revolve around stepping out of time.
I know that sounds impossible and it sounds a little crazy,
But I'd like you to embrace the next few minutes of this conversation and dive into a understanding of how time works and how we conceive that time is past,
Present,
And future,
But really time is just past and future.
And in the present moment is a continual rehappening of more moments and it just continues on forever.
But our mind creates this past and this future,
So we call that time.
And to learn to step out of time,
You have to learn that time is on a horizontal line from past to future.
And we are stretched out on this horizontal line most of the time,
Most of our lives,
Throughout our days.
And we feel the stress that it creates and it pulls us,
Stress pulls us into either the future or into the past.
But in the present moment,
Time stands still.
If you can be 100% into this present moment.
And we can say time is linear.
Time exists from one point to another point to another point,
From A to B to C to D and so on and so on.
And it seems like it can go on for eternity,
But when we talk about the word eternity it's really being 100% focused and present into the center present moment.
So instead of going from A to B to C to D,
It goes to A to more A to more A and then even more A.
And that continues on for eternity.
And you can actually shift your energy from the mind focusing on past,
Present,
And future and shift it into just the present.
And this shift shifts you from the horizontal plane to the vertical plane.
And in doing so,
Your energy does two things from that moment on.
If you can stay in this present moment,
The energy shifts from the horizontal to the vertical plane.
Now some energy goes down while some energy goes up and into what we call the law of levitation.
And this law of levitation raises energy through what we call our chakra system.
Now I never worked on any of the chakra system meditations or practices or anything that I picked up.
When I began meditating,
All I did was focus on the present moment.
I'm pulling all of my energy into the moment of what we call the essence of eternity.
And what that did for me was that my lower bodies are our lower bodies.
We can call them first the physical,
Second the emotional,
The third is the intellectual,
And the fourth is the spiritual body.
Those are those are our lower bodies in in this existence of embracing the chakras and the chakra systems.
And the lower bodies are actually split into two.
Each person has either male or female in each chakra.
And depending on which one is more predominant in the root chakra,
How the other chakras are laid out as you raise your energy upwards.
So energy is going down through the root back into the earth.
And that's a good thing because you need to be grounded.
You need to have this secure feeling that you are centered in a way.
And if you're pulled from your center,
Then you need to be focused and able to recenter yourself as soon as possible.
Things in life like stress can pull you from your center.
Fear,
Anger,
Greed,
Depression,
All these things can pull you from your center.
But if you focus back on existing in this present moment and into this eternity,
The essence of eternity,
Then you become recentered and energy can then flow upwards and downwards.
And when it does,
Then you're not the same as a lot of spiritual people because a lot of spiritual people don't know about the true centering.
Yeah,
They practice all these things and all these magical ways of understanding.
But if you're not centered,
If you don't have that centering,
Then you're missing the point.
But the lower chakras are lower bodies.
I'm just making this one last point before we move back into this essence of eternity.
The lower chakras,
Like I said,
They're both male or female.
And you need to basically learn to balance out each chakra,
Help it to mature,
Help it to be.
.
.
If your lower essence,
If your root chakra is male,
Then your next chakra up here will also have to be balanced.
Every chakra has to be,
In a way,
Activated.
Maybe a good word.
But once you activate each chakra,
Once you balance the energies and you raise energy up through them,
Then up to the heart is the last point where it's male and female.
The upper three chakras above the heart,
They are what we call that of the higher self.
When everybody speaks of,
You know,
You having a higher self,
Then this is really what it means.
It's that this higher self is in direct communication with the divine essence of existence.
You can call it God,
You can call it divine essence.
You have to be a little careful,
I guess,
With your definitions of what divine essence is or what godliness is.
And try not to describe it.
Because that's where we go wrong in life.
Our minds want us to describe things.
It wants a description.
I have a friend on Facebook I've been talking with,
And he was arguing that there's so many different definitions of enlightenment.
And I tried to tell him that it's not that it's undefinable.
There are things about it that can be defined.
But why would you want somebody else's impression of what divine godliness or divine essence is when you can find out for yourself?
Why settle for the book when you can live the life,
When you can experience it yourself?
And if you raise enough energy up into the heart chakra,
Once 51% of your energy gets up into the heart,
Then a magical experience can happen.
And it all happens because you shifted out of time and you shifted your energy into the present moment.
Now,
A lot of people start meditating and they try to do this.
But if you're looking for it,
Then you miss.
That is a subtle form of greed.
It's a subtle form of pulling you into the future.
Just 1% of 100 pulled off the center and you're not centered anymore.
So you have to be totally centered.
You have to be 100% centered.
And once 51% of your energy goes up into the heart,
Then the miracle happens.
It sounds simple,
Doesn't it?
It sounds like,
Yeah,
I can do that.
Anybody can do that,
Right?
But it's very subtle.
Like I said,
1% of your energy pulled off center and you're not centered anymore.
You're pulled to the periphery.
You're pulled to the circumference.
And in doing so,
Then you get pulled off the present moment.
You get pulled back into time,
Back into the horizontal layer.
And it's not bad to have this feeling of times as sometimes it's needed.
But for your spiritual work,
For your soul to grow,
Then you have to shift and go from A to more A and then more A again.
So while you're meditating,
Focus on the present moment.
I know our minds are basically just thoughts.
And thoughts need space to live,
To exist.
A thought needs space.
And the space is created through time.
So like I said,
Time is a good thing in a lot of instances.
But for the most part,
For your spiritual growth,
It hinders you and stops you from this point where you shift your energy.
So the way to have this shift happen,
I know I have a description I'm trying to give of how it can happen,
The way it can happen.
But basically,
It happens spontaneously when you can still all the voices in your mind.
When you can basically look for the gaps and then allow the gaps to get bigger.
And in that space of the gaps,
The mind does not exist.
So yes,
In a way that the mind might revolt a little bit against you,
Because it is a subtle form of death to the mind.
Now,
The mind doesn't get hurt permanently.
In fact,
What happens is the opposite,
Is that once you can shift your energy to the vertical plane,
Then the mind gets a break.
It gets a break because you don't need your mind to be running all the time.
It's like when you're sitting in a chair or you're lying down,
You don't need your legs.
You don't need to keep running with your legs all the time,
24-7.
That would be silly,
Right?
Well,
The same is with our minds.
Our minds do not need to operate all the time.
And a miracle also happens,
And you should know this,
That you become connected to existence the more you raise your energy.
The more these gaps grow,
And you have an essence of silence.
And what happens is that you start listening to your gut.
You start listening to your instinct as the energy gets raised up into the upper chakras,
And you start feeding energy upward,
Past the heart.
Then you become in contact,
In a direct contact.
And it's not like somebody's having a conversation with you,
But in a way it's more like you just come to an understanding that somebody's trying to convey something to you,
And you can hear it.
You feel like it's a message being given to you,
But not always in the form of words.
It's sometimes in the form of silence.
And through silence,
We're able to telepathically communicate with the divine source.
But it all starts with creating the gaps while in meditation.
And then in your daily life,
When you're just doing things like washing the dishes,
Or maybe sweeping the floor,
Or something,
You can basically do that without your mind.
You can still the mind and just watch yourself be the watcher doing these things.
And in meditation,
Again,
You're the watcher.
You're just sitting there,
And you're watching your thoughts,
Watching your mind,
Watching your soul.
And then eventually,
You have to detach yourself from the body and realize that you're not the body.
Then you have to detach yourself from the mind and realize you're more than the mind.
And when you feel that shift of energy in meditation,
It's very powerful.
And if you sit there in silence,
Without thought for about 10 to 15 minutes,
Then another shift happens.
And then that's when you're shifting upwards into the upper chakras.
And when that happens,
It's.
.
.
That's when I say meditation starts.
All those stuff that led up to stilling the mind and quieting everything down and becoming still yourself,
All that is just the preliminary part of meditation.
Meditation doesn't even start until you get like 15 minutes into being completely still with no thought.
And then a shift happens,
And you feel it,
And it's very powerful.
And it's very enjoyable.
And you can stay in that state of stillness,
15,
20 minutes,
Easy.
Some people might do it for a lot longer.
I never stay into meditation for more than about an hour.
That's more than enough for me.
And honestly,
I meditate very seldomly now because I've done it so much.
And I've.
.
.
Basically,
I've taken the journey of crossing the river,
And I use the boat.
And the boat is basically meditation.
I use the boat to cross the river.
But once I got to the other shore,
Then I didn't need to carry the boat around with me anymore.
And I think Buddha gave a whole lecture on people,
These three monks that were walking around on the shore,
Thanking the boat for carrying them across the river.
And they didn't want to let go of the boat because,
You know,
It served its purpose.
It did a great thing.
But it's silly.
Once you get to the other shore,
You don't need the boat anymore.
And that's kind of the way it is with meditation with all of us.
But you have to understand,
Though,
The journey had to be made first.
And if you're on one shore,
And you realize that you need to get to the other shore,
Then take the journey.
Dive into it and,
You know,
Practice meditation,
Practice awareness,
Sharpen your sword as often as you can,
Because a lot of people will try to pull you off your center.
And if that happens,
Then you have to kind of figure out ways to get re-centered as quickly as possible.
Because a man that's centered lives life basically stress-free.
You can feel the stress on the peripheal,
But towards the center,
It doesn't ever absorb into the center,
Because the mind is basically on the peripheal.
And with the mind being out there,
It's like a protective layer,
Keeping other things away from your center and stopping from hurting you.
And a lot of people that become like empaths,
They get pulled or sucked dry of their energy,
Because others get through that protective layer.
They get through past your mind and they feed off your soul.
Narcissistic people do this,
Energy vampires,
All kinds of crazy things out in the world today.
But if you learn to get centered,
Then what happens is you get basically like a well that goes deep,
A water well that goes deep,
And it has an eternal connection with the divine,
With the ocean.
So you can draw water out of it all the time.
And the more you draw water out of it,
The more it gets replenished,
Because that's the way it works with a well.
Now,
If you quit drawing water out of the well,
Then the well dries up.
But with this shift,
This whole shift to eternity and raising energy and being centered,
Then you become a continual contact with the divine source.
And you keep getting refreshed,
As long as you stay centered,
The spring is eternal.
And it's kind of a very beautiful way to live.
I really can't imagine any other way of existing in this world once I discovered this game changer,
This essence of being centered.
And it is a major game changer.
It changes your whole psyche.
It changes how you relate with other people.
And before we go,
I wanted to also mention that the mind will revolt against you when it feels like it's not being the master anymore.
It can create you to have anxiety,
It can create stress within you.
It'll pull at you.
But in the end,
You got to tell the mind that is no longer the master,
And your consciousness becomes the master.
The true master takes its place.
And then you don't become an enemy of the mind,
Then the mind becomes your slave.
You are in control,
And you use the mind when you need to.
And when you don't,
You give it a break.
And by giving it a break,
You become a better thinker.
Your thoughts become clearer.
Your process of thinking actually increases and helps you to cope with and understand everything that's going on in your life.
There are so many interactions with other people,
Or how you respond to things,
Or how you react to things.
All these things can all be determined just from making a shift,
A small shift from time to eternity.
Okay folks,
I guess we'll end it there.
I hope you enjoyed this talk.
I love being able to share what I've learned along this road,
Along this path,
And help you to basically live a better life,
And maybe get more waves.
If it helps you get more waves,
Or helps you to live brightly and without stress,
And be centered,
Then I've done my job.
I feel better about everything.
All right y'all,
Take care of yourselves.
Much love,
Mahalo,
And be kind to each other.
Stay centered,
Stay aware,
And don't let other people pull you off your center,
And everything will be fine.
All right,
Take care of yourselves.
Much love,
Bye.
