Transcript

Come to a comfortable seated position,

Either with crossed legs or sinking your hips back towards your heels in a kneeling position or maybe coming to sit on a chair with both feet pressing firmly into the floor of the earth underneath you.

Wherever you choose to sit,

Make sure that it's a quiet space.

And doing a quick mental scan,

Just noticing,

Are your ears over top of your shoulders?

Are your shoulders over top of your hips?

Ensuring that wherever you have chosen to sit,

It is not only comfortable,

But you have a long and straight spine.

And then making a commitment to yourself,

I will not move.

And if they're not already allowing your eyelids to close heavy,

I'm saying to yourself mentally one more time,

I will not move.

This is your time.

A time for total relaxation and inner stillness.

Take a moment to make sure that you're warm enough,

That you're seated in the most comfortable position that you can be,

And that your hands,

Your arms are resting loosely on your thighs,

On your knees,

Wherever they fall comfortably.

And now bringing your all awareness,

Your all attention to your breath.

Natural,

Normal,

Effortless breath that flows in and out without any force,

Without any trying.

Just continue to follow that breath without manipulating or changing it in any way.

Like a third party observer,

Just watching and noticing.

And then continuing to watch this breath,

Begin to deepen your breath slightly so that the air travels in through your nostrils,

Down your throat and fills up all the way into your belly.

Your stomach rises,

Expands like a balloon with every inhalation.

And every time you exhale,

The air travels back up and out from navel all the way to nose.

Your belly falls,

It deflates,

Contracts.

And so now your awareness of your breath is focused mainly on your belly.

The gentle rise and fall of your abdomen as you inhale and exhale smoothly and gently.

Imagine with every breath in,

You breathe in calmness,

Tranquility,

Peace.

And with every breath out,

You simply spread those feelings of peacefulness throughout your whole body.

And from this place of tranquility,

Of stillness,

Of softness,

Begin to imagine yourself walking down a city street.

Picture yourself walking down a city street that's quite busy,

Full of shops and businesses.

And in front of you,

You can see crowds of people hurrying from one place to another.

Cars and buses line the roads and they crawl through the city bumper to bumper in afternoon traffic.

Just up ahead,

Next to the sidewalk in which you are walking,

You notice a narrow doorway between two buildings.

It is a small opening and it looks immediately like a cozy retreat from the hustle and bustle of the world around you.

You walk towards the doorway,

Slipping easily through the crowds of people.

You arrive at this doorway and you step inside the narrow entrance,

An entrance that is dimly lit,

Although right away feels warm,

Feels inviting,

And shelters you from the outside world.

You take a few steps deeper inside the entrance and arrive at the top of a flight of 10 stairs.

You slowly make your way down these steps and as you do,

The sound of the city begins to fade away behind you.

With each step you take,

You feel yourself moving away from the noise of the world and down into a place of quiet,

Of solitude.

As you gradually descend these 10 steps,

You sink deeper and deeper into a state of peaceful relaxation.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Six.

Seven.

Eight.

Nine.

Ten.

You've reached the bottom of the staircase.

You notice as your feet touch the ground,

The earth,

On the other side of these stairs,

That you feel calm and deeply relaxed.

You feel the air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air,

The air.

You feel calm and deeply relaxed in this new,

Quiet environment.

You can barely hear the sound of the street above you now.

Before you is a tall wooden door,

A door with no handle or lever to which to open it.

You study the door more closely and you notice the word trust has been carved into the surface.

Contemplate this word,

Trust.

Feel the essence of it.

Slowly you begin to feel a sensation of opening within your own self.

A letting go of control,

A releasing of anything that you may have or continue to be holding onto.

And as you feel this softening within your own self,

The door in front of you unlocks.

Its old hinges creak as it slowly opens to reveal a small round room.

This room is a library.

It is filled with bookshelves and it has a tall dome ceiling.

You step inside the room and slowly,

Quietly the door closes behind you.

This room is a private place.

It is secluded.

It is inviting.

It is safe.

It has no windows.

It has no other doors and it is very,

Very quiet.

You feel a feeling of contentment wash over and around you as you settle into this place.

In the center of the room sits a small wooden desk.

On the desk lies a large old dust-covered book.

You pick up the book and you feel the weight of it within your hands.

You feel a sense of wonder,

Of curiosity as you behold this grand old book.

It becomes obvious that it has rested in this place for a very long time.

Waiting for you since long before you were even born.

You open the cover and you notice that every last one of the pages within this book are blank.

This is a book of freedom.

This book has the power to free you from anything in your life that might be bothering you or troubling you about this next chapter.

It is time for you to write within this book.

Take a moment to think about anything that is disturbing you,

That is not sitting comfortably with you in your life at this moment.

Bring to mind any situation about the coming days ahead that may be consuming you,

Burdening you with unnecessary worry.

Any forthcoming event that frightens you.

Any person that you may be nervous to see or meet.

Any feelings of fear that you are holding onto.

Any self doubts about your ability to move forward in this next part of your journey.

Take a pen and write in this book about anything and everything that you feel may be holding you back.

Anything that is burdening you.

Know that there is no right or wrong way to do this.

Simply feel or imagine your thoughts and feelings being imprinted into this book.

Take your time.

Clear your mind.

Release your worries.

Allow any images to form within your mind,

Any feelings to flow in and throughout your body.

And then allow them to flow and imprint onto the pages of this book.

Sense that the pages are filling up one by one with all of your worldly concerns.

The book absorbs them all.

As the pages fill with words and pictures,

You begin to feel lighter and more positive.

You have been heard.

You have been understood.

You feel reassured.

You feel relieved.

When you are ready,

Close this book.

And as you stand here in this library with the book now closed in front of you,

Having absorbed all of your worldly concerns,

Feel new lightness.

Feel new freedom.

And notice what that feels like in your body as an embodied experience and not just an intellectual idea.

Trust that you have been heard and understood.

As you stand here in this quiet space,

Feeling new lightness,

You look up and the domed roof above you begins to open.

Slowly,

Surely,

The roof opens completely,

Revealing a clear blue sky above.

You stand here for a moment,

Looking up,

Your arms alongside your body,

Observing the picture-perfect bluebird sky above you.

You gently begin to raise your forearms and hands,

Your palms facing away from you.

And as you do this,

Your body begins to lift up,

Your body begins to float,

And your feet raise up and off of the floor below you.

A wave of exhilaration flows through you as you realize that you have the freedom to fly anywhere that you choose.

As you raise your hands,

You float higher and higher.

As you lower your arms and hands,

You gently descend.

With effortless ease,

You begin to float towards the open roof.

You glide up and out of the room and slowly up into the sky.

You feel a wondrous sense of freedom as you fly higher and higher into this bluebird sky.

And when you look down,

You can see the entire city below you.

It gradually becomes smaller and smaller as you leave the world behind and float higher and higher up into the heavens.

Up and up you fly,

Passing beyond the clouds,

Feeling even more joyful,

Even more free with every passing moment.

As you continue to travel upwards,

You decide to fly right out into the cosmos,

Into space,

Leaving all of your concerns far,

Far behind you.

With your arms raised,

You ascend higher and higher,

Traveling beyond the skies and out into space.

For a moment,

You take some time to turn around and look back at the Earth.

It is but a small blue sphere,

Floating in vast emptiness.

Take a moment to drift,

To effortlessly drift throughout space,

Allowing your whole body to be passive and admiring the beauty of the stars,

Of the planets all around you.

Feel yourself as weightless.

Feel yourself as content.

Feel yourself at peace.

This floating sensation is profoundly relaxing.

With each passing moment,

You slip even deeper into a state of stillness,

Of silence.

You feel as though you are a million miles from anything or anyone.

And yet,

At the same time,

You feel completely connected to the entire universe.

You feel vast.

You feel weightless.

You are timeless.

From deep within this silent space inside of you,

A voice,

Your own voice,

Can be heard.

Its loving words echo in your mind.

I am without beginning or ending.

I am eternal.

I am free to experience this life in any way that I so choose.

Like the universe itself,

I am limitless.

I am free from all concerns about the past.

I am free from all concerns about the future.

My life is in perfect order,

And it is unfolding according to a perfect plan.

I do not need to strive to attain the things that I desire.

Because I know that in resisting less,

I will allow them to easily flow right to me.

I trust the process.

I release my grip of life.

I am calm in the knowledge that all of my needs are taken care of.

I am open to all of life's experiences.

And as the moments of my life come and go,

I remain at peace.

And if a problem arises,

I do not resist it.

I observe every situation with a calm,

Open mind.

For I trust that it will resolve itself in time.

I have all the time in the world.

In the quiet spaces between my thoughts,

Inspiration comes to me.

All becomes clear.

And my life transforms in magical and unexpected ways.

Remind yourself of an obstacle in your life that at one time seemed completely unmanageable.

Seemed impossible to persevere through.

And now as you sit here in stillness and silence so peaceful,

Recognize that you have and you will continue to rise effortlessly above all the challenges.

To a place of serenity,

To a place of wisdom and knowing.

And your path going forward will become clearer and clearer.

In every way your life will become more and more harmonious.

Trust the flow of life.

Resist nothing.

Yearn for nothing.

And gratefully receive all that comes your way.

Now it is time to return home.

To return to your beautiful life that is unfolding outside of space.

Take one last look around you at the infinite glorious expanse of space.

And know that you can return here at any time whenever you so choose.

Any time that you seek clarity.

Any time that you wish to free yourself from your worldly life.

Simply raise your open palms to the world.

Close your eyes and imagine floating upwards.

You can,

You will be instantly transported to this infinite place of peace and tranquility.

You gently lower your hands and slowly you begin to drift back down towards the earth.

Gradually the planet grows larger and larger before your eyes.

You pass into the upper atmosphere and through wisps of clouds as you gracefully guide yourself back down towards the city in which you started.

The open roof of the library comes into view and you steer yourself towards it.

Slowly,

Gently.

You float down into the library and you feel your feet come to rest on the solid floor.

The roof above you begins to slowly close.

You look up and watch as the opening narrows and then closes completely above your head.

You feel relaxed,

Recharged,

You feel refreshed and you feel lighter and so much stronger than when you first arrived here.

The large old book still rests on the desk where you left it.

You pick it up and open it and as you flip the front cover you notice that all of the pages once again are completely empty.

Blank.

During your journey into space this book has been cleansed.

And only pure white paper remains.

You close the book and you make your way back towards the door.

The door swings open for you and you step outside of the library.

Before you are the ten steps that lead back up towards the city.

As you make your way upwards up these steps you feel yourself becoming more alert.

More refreshed.

Ten.

Nine.

Slowly walking.

Eight.

Seven.

Six.

Becoming more and more alert.

Five.

Four.

Three.

You're nearly back now.

Two.

One.

You find yourself standing in the open doorway looking out onto a quiet city street.

You're feeling calm,

Clear and at peace with the world.

You notice that all the traffic has departed and that all the pedestrians have disappeared.

As you step out of the doorway you can now see that every one of the streets around you is quiet and is empty.

You can stroll freely and confidently to any place that you choose.

You feel happy.

You feel whole.

And you are now ready to return to a full waking state.

And to take this sense of new found freedom and trust with you in the next chapter of your life.

Slowly begin to bring your awareness back to your physical body.

Silently sitting in this comfortable space.

And with your eyes closed and your body still begin to first just deepen your breath.

Slow,

Steady,

Smooth breaths in and out.

Nourishing every muscle,

Every tendon,

Every cell with fresh,

Clean,

Air deep breaths.

And when you feel ready,

Slowly,

Slowly begin to flutter your eyes open.

And acknowledge and appreciate this world around you.
