Come to a comfortable seated position,
Either with crossed legs or maybe drawing your hips back towards your heels on your knees,
Or maybe sitting on a chair with both feet flat on the earth underneath you.
And simply allow your hands to rest gently on your knees,
On your thighs,
Wherever they fall comfortably.
And then allow your eyelids to fall heavy.
Do a mental scan of your body and notice are your ears over top of your shoulders,
Are your shoulders over top of your hips,
Nice long straight spine.
And begin to bring your all awareness to your breath.
Slow,
Steady,
Smooth breath that travels in and out through your nostrils without any force,
Without any trying.
Allow your body to take in all the air that it needs.
And imagine with every exhalation that your entire body softens.
And then begin to invoke a feeling of gratitude,
Thankfulness,
Gratitude for all of the gifts that you have in your life right now.
Experience gratitude as a feeling and not just an intellectual idea.
What does it feel like in your body?
Appreciating where we are and what we have is the key to moving forward,
The key to new beginnings.
And every situation from your past,
Every relationship has taught you something useful.
And it has made you who you are today.
Now begin to notice those things within your life that have outlived their usefulness.
What keeps you stuck?
What stops you from living your deepest desires,
Your fullest potential?
Recognizing the obstacles to achieving the changes that you desire for your life.
And as you sit here silently,
Begin to make mental notes of all those things that you are ready to release from your life.
Are you holding onto resentment to another?
Are you holding onto resentment to yourself?
Let all of your fears,
Your worries,
Your doubts,
Your disappointments,
Any anger or frustration surface in your mind.
Vision this muddy stream which flows out of you with every exhalation.
All of your fears,
All of your worries and doubts and disappointments flow out as a muddy stream with every smooth,
Steady breath out.
See yourself releasing old hurts,
Sadness,
Intolerance and injustice in your life from past and present as well.
Feel them dissolving,
Pouring out of your body.
Just let them go.
Release all the could-haves and should-haves.
If onlys.
Just let them go.
There are many layers to let go of.
So for now,
Just let go of the things that you are able to.
Release.
Just let them go.
Now see what items,
What relationships,
Situations you have outgrown or that need shifting in some way in your life.
Take time to express gratitude for all of the lessons you have learned from these relationships and situations.
And then visualize them gently leaving or changing to promote your new reality.
As you free yourself from the past,
You open up space for fresh,
Honest,
Authentic relationships to form.
For new opportunities to come into your life.
As old energy flows out,
Experience new lightness.
Opening up space for compassion,
For forgiveness,
For health,
For prosperity and for success.
Dwell in this new space for some time.
Opening your heart and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to grow and to move forward.
Honor and acknowledge yourself for the courage to clean house.
Honor and acknowledge yourself for the courage to let go.
Now imagine that you can breathe in all of the qualities that you need for this next chapter of your life.
Breathe in courage to be true to yourself.
Just breathe it in.
Breathe in patience,
Discipline,
Spontaneity and anything else that you feel would assist you in this new beginning.
Just breathe it in.
See yourself as strong.
See yourself as positive.
In your mind's eye,
Picture what you would like to receive in your life.
And visualize yourself easily receiving these gifts.
Feel yourself radiating with positive energy as you attract new people,
Ideas and situations into your life.
See yourself joyful and content with this new reality.
Stay with it for the next moment.
And bringing a smile to your lips,
Slowly begin to deepen your breaths.
Feel the air traveling in through your nostrils,
Down your windpipe towards your navel.
And then turning around back again,
Navel to nostrils.
Nose to navel.
Navel to nose.
And then slowly,
Slowly bringing your hands into a prayer position in front of your chest.
And pressing into your thumbs and pinky fingers and allowing the index,
Middle and ring finger to splay outwards.
Creating a lotus mudra.
This gesture or seal is a mudra that represents the lotus flower.
This beautiful flower that grows from mud and emerges from darkness.
And really feel into this mudra,
This gesture that you're making with your hands.
A symbol,
A reminder to see the beauty in new beginnings.
And then bowing your forehead slightly down in the direction of your fingertips.
Closed eyes and a very full heart.
Using the following words to become your words.
Just for today,
I will not be angry.
Just for today,
I will not worry.
Just for today,
I will speak and do my work honestly.
Just for today,
I will see everything that enters my life as a gift.
And just for today,
I will love my neighbor and all living beings.
And give every single person who crosses my path today,
The very best of who I am.
And with your awareness focused on your heart center,
Feeling the warmth or the beating of your heart right now.
Allow those words to resonate.
