Loving Your Local Environment
Wherever you are, whether you are in a city or out in the rainforest, your local environment is sacred. We start to care for our environment by creating a relationship with it and with the beings and energies within it. In this practice, best done somewhere outside in your local environs, you will tend to that relationship. Check out Keziah's Sacred Earth Healing course here on Insight Timer.

Breathing slowly and gently in and out,
Calling in the spirits of this place.
Place one hand on your heart and one hand extended down towards the ground with an intention of connection.
So if you can reach the ground,
You might place the palm of your hand on it,
Otherwise just extending your palm downwards with the intention of connection.
And if you don't have hands or aren't able to control or direct them,
You can just send your intention in those directions,
Focus on your heart,
Focus towards the ground.
And just sitting quietly in communion,
Noticing any thoughts,
Sensations,
Images or sounds that occur.
Listening for the spirits of place and making your presence known.
Remembering that we're building a relationship here and to start that we do not need to ask for or offer anything,
But start by just making the spirits of this place know that you are here and willing to connect with them.
Sitting quietly for a little while longer,
Open to whatever comes.
And then keeping that one hand on your heart,
Reach your other hand in another direction.
So if there is a plant or a building or other being who is within your reach,
You might place the palm of your hand gently upon them.
Or otherwise just extending your hand palm outwards with the intention of connection to whatever beings are inhabiting this place in that direction.
And again,
The hands are just a tool of focus and connection here.
So if you're not physically able to use your hands in this way,
Then you can use your intention or other parts of yourself to make this connection.
And again,
Just sitting quietly,
Receptive to whatever comes in whatever way it comes to you.
And gently making your presence known to the community of beings in this your local area.
Sitting here for a few moments longer,
Listening,
Observing and feeling and just noticing whatever comes into your awareness.
And then opening your posture in whatever way is available to you.
And breathing into your heart and out into your immediate surroundings.
To your local community of beings that you are here and willing to relate.
And ask them to let you know how best you can nurture this place that you inhabit.
Allowing yourself to once again be quiet and receive whatever comes.
Breathing into your heart,
Out into your immediate surroundings.
And then giving thanks for whatever has occurred during this time,
We will begin to close the practice.
That's our practice for today.
Have a wonderful rest of your day.
