Hi friends.
Today we are going to do a meditation about calm together.
I know for myself,
Finding calm is not always the easiest thing to do.
But when I am able to take a moment,
To drop in,
To listen,
To notice,
It is so much easier to find that calm feeling that we all know so well and search for so often.
Before I turn on any music,
Let's take a moment to listen.
Listen to what's happening in the room around us or wherever we are.
Maybe notice if we can feel anything.
The ground,
Our heartbeat.
Just listen for a moment.
And when you're ready,
Together let's take a deep breath in.
Holding it at the top and when it feels right,
We let it go.
And again,
Breathing in.
And letting it go.
The next time that you breathe out,
Can you really make it count?
Can you go slow and can you notice how it feels?
Maybe it makes you feel a little bit heavy.
Maybe it makes you feel softer,
More relaxed and more able to find that calm that we're looking for.
Sometimes I find that my calm place is difficult to find when my head has so many thoughts in it,
Telling me stories and stories and stories.
Sometimes you just don't need those stories.
So altogether let's imagine that we are in a field.
Maybe the field is completely filled with beautiful wildflowers of every color.
Maybe the field has tall grass.
Today in this field it is whatever weather makes you feel at home.
Maybe it's sunny and you can feel the sun on your face and the grass on your feet.
For a moment as you feel yourself imagining this field and imagining what it feels like to stand on it.
Let's also imagine that you're holding a helium balloon by the string.
Holding tightly onto the string because you do not want this balloon to float away.
The next thought that comes into your mind,
We are going to put it inside that balloon or write it on the balloon with a fresh sharpie.
Writing that thought on the balloon,
Maybe it's something to do with the past,
Maybe it's something to do with the future.
Writing that thought on the balloon,
We hold the string tight and we look up a few feet to see it suspended in the air.
All together let's take a deep breath in and breathe out and let it go.
Let the string go and watch the balloon move towards the sky.
We breathe in again and with every breath out we look up at that balloon and see that it's farther and farther away.
Less and less of something that we ourselves need to deal with.
Come back to your breath.
Whenever those thoughts come into your head,
Whenever they grab you and they say give me attention,
Maybe you can just imagine writing them on a beautiful,
Sparkly,
Colorful helium balloon giving them a smile and then letting them go.
Because when you do that and you're able to come back to your breath,
You are letting yourself get closer and closer to your calm place.
Closer and closer to being at home in your body.
Take a deep breath in one more time.
As you let it go,
Feel free to open your eyes and look around and smile at something that makes you feel really good.
Well done you guys.
I'm proud of you.
Great job.
