This short guided meditation will help you focus and build a connection with the awareness of everything happening in and outside of you, using techniques I have found to be effective in my own practice. I recommend this one for those who are new to meditation and are looking to build awareness over manifestation and law of attraction. Instead, we'll focus on simplicity to reduce anxiety.

Welcome to this Get Woke meditation.

I'm Jaren.

Simplicity,

I've learned,

Is key to a happier and successful life,

And that's why it's the focus of our practice today.

Please relax,

Sit in a comfortable position,

And slowly close your eyes.

And as you stare back into that dark,

Empty space,

Become aware of your breathing.

Allow the breath to come and go on its own.

You don't need to do anything.

Shallow or deep is just fine.

Just become aware of it and its qualities.

If you feel any thoughts arise while breathing,

Take a moment to understand the thought itself.

Where in your conscious space is it located?

And watch where it goes as it fades away.

And then return your attention back to breathing and how it feels for your body to be sitting in space.

Even though our eyes are closed as we sit here,

Notice that you can still see something.

Try to let your mind widen into this space.

See if you can feel a connection to the oneness that is everything in this space and the universe.

I want you to consider the fact that everything around us originated at the same location.

The Big Bang.

Every part of our world is connected at a very fundamental and scientific level.

Follow this next breath from the very moment it begins to the end of its completion.

Keep your focus on breathing.

Now,

Pay attention to any particular mood or emotion you may be feeling right now.

Whether you're tired or anxious or sad or calm,

Whatever emotion you feel,

Understand that it too is just a thought.

Now while we're paying attention to it,

Try to notice the characteristics of your emotion.

What is it?

Where is it?

What's happening in your body when it's present?

Do you notice any sensations in your face or your stomach or your back?

When you feel a negative emotion and become aware of it,

Start noticing its traits.

You'll see patterns.

Then realize that just like other thoughts and sounds and breathing,

It's just a temporary excitation in consciousness.

They arise outside of your control.

They're always changing.

Now let your mood fade away and relax your mind.

And just be present as open consciousness.

For this final part of our session,

Let's practice Ujjayi breathing,

Which we introduced in our last episode.

As you leave this session today,

Try to bring an open awareness into your work or whatever you do next.

When you feel a negative emotion,

Understand what it is and then see how quickly you can return to open awareness.

Thank you for joining and also thank yourself for taking time to bring this practice into your life.

I'd love to hear from you in the comments.

I definitely feel more relaxed and calm. At points my anxiousness would take over, but focusing on my breath really helped.
