Welcome to this Yoga Nidra.

Please settle into your space.

Making yourself comfortable.

Yoga Nidra is normally practised lying down on your back.

But please adopt any posture that's comfortable for you today,

That you can remain in for the next 30 to 40 minutes.

And as you settle there,

You can choose to close your eyes,

Or if it feels more comfortable,

You can bring your eyes to a soft gaze.

And just allow your body to soften and settle in to the surface you're resting on.

And take a deep breath.

And as you exhale,

Let go and allow your muscles to soften a bit more.

And as you take another deep breath,

Exhale any mental distractions and allow your mind to relax.

And as you rest here,

Just become aware of the surface that you're resting on,

Any blanket or pillow that you make contact with.

And sense the support that you get from the earth.

Sense the earth rising up beneath you to hold your body.

Mother earth rising up to meet your body and fully support your back,

Your head,

Your limbs,

Holding you safely in this restful position for yoga nidra.

And we'll begin our journey by setting a sankalpa or intention.

This is a heartfelt statement that you make to yourself that's repeated in the present tense.

You may already have a sankalpa or intention that you use for yoga nidra and you can continue to work with this today.

Or if not,

Then think of something or feel into something that really resonates with you and create a short positive statement or intention in the present tense.

So one example might be,

I am healthy and free.

I am calm and at peace.

I am healing.

These are examples,

But feel into what really resonates for you at this time.

It doesn't have to be happening,

But something that you would like,

Something that's really heartfelt and create the statement as if it is already happening.

And once you have your intention or sankalpa,

Repeat it to yourself three times with feeling like you're planting a seed into the earth to take root.

We'll now practice a series of relaxation techniques which allow us to cleanse and clear our physical,

Mental,

Energetic and emotional bodies.

This is the journey of yoga nidra.

This will help us to reach the state of bliss.

This state is known to us,

But we have little or no memory of being in our inner bliss.

But this yoga nidra journey can help lead us there.

If at any time you don't want to follow any instruction,

You always have the choice not to.

And instead,

If you wish,

You can follow your breath.

We'll now take a journey through the body.

We'll visit each marma point or energy point of the body.

And as we do this,

Allow your mind to quickly transition from each body part to each body part.

This should be a relaxing journey through the different parts of your body and the swiftness with which we transition can relax the mind and reduce external thoughts.

So when you hear a body part named,

Bring as much presence as possible to that body part.

And we're going to start by bringing presence to the space between the eyebrows,

The third eye.

And then the middle of the throat.

The right shoulder.

The right elbow.

The bend of the right wrist.

The tip of the right thumb.

The tip of the index finger.

Tip of the middle finger.

Tip of the fourth finger.

Tip of the small finger.

The bend in the right wrist.

The right elbow.

The right shoulder.

The hollow of the throat.

The left shoulder.

The left elbow.

The bend of the left wrist.

The tip of the left thumb.

The tip of the index finger.

Tip of the middle finger.

Tip of the fourth finger.

The tip of the small finger.

The bend of the left wrist.

The left elbow.

The left shoulder.

The middle of the throat.

The heart centre.

The right side of the chest.

The heart centre.

The left side of the chest.

The heart centre.

The navel point.

The middle of the pubic bone.

The right hip.

The right knee.

The right ankle.

The tip of the right big toe.

The tip of the second toe.

The tip of the third toe.

The tip of the fourth toe.

The tip of the small toe.

The right ankle joint.

The right knee joint.

The right hip joint.

The middle of the pubic bone.

The left hip joint.

The left knee.

The left ankle.

The tip of the left big toe.

The tip of the left second toe.

The tip of the third toe.

The tip of the fourth toe.

The tip of the small toe.

The left ankle.

The left knee.

The left hip.

The middle of the pubic bone.

The navel point.

The heart centre.

The middle of the throat.

And back to the space between the eyebrows,

The third eye.

And rest here at the space between the eyebrows.

Feel your whole body.

Welcoming all and any sensations.

And now imagine yourself resting in a pool of healing liquid light.

Breathe this liquid light up through your body to the top of your head on each inhale.

And then release the breath out the top of your head,

Allowing a shower of light to fall around you like a fountain which then returns to the pool.

So inhaling liquid light from the pool you are resting in,

Drawing it up through the body and releasing out through the head on the exhale.

Liquid light falling around you like a fountain.

You might like to imagine that your body is a flower or tree,

Liquid light being drawn up through the stem or trunk and exploding out the top,

Blossoming at the end of every branch.

Inhaling liquid light up through your stem or trunk and exhaling it out the top,

Blossoms at the end of every branch.

And continue to circulate this liquid energy with each breath,

Allowing the energy to clean,

Purify and brighten your being.

And just allow your breath to return to normal.

Now I will guide you to follow the chakras and feel each of your chakras energy come alive as you breathe into them.

Feel all your chakras connected like different parts of your life force.

So inhale now at the base of your spine.

Breathe in and out here.

And as you do,

Begin to sense a red glow filling the base of your spine.

And keep breathing here,

Sensing the medicine of the first chakra,

Sensing the energy of groundedness.

And now moving to the second chakra,

At the space just below your navel point,

All the way out to your hips.

Now breathe in and out of this sacral region,

Just holding your attention at the sacral area.

And more and more you sense an orange glow filling your sacral chakra area.

And sense the medicine of the second chakra,

The energy of creative flow and pleasure.

And now allowing your attention to move to the third chakra.

Breathe here at the abdomen,

Just above the navel point.

And as you breathe in and out here,

Begin to sense a yellow glow filling your abdomen.

Sensing the medicine of the third chakra reclaiming your power.

And moving now to the heart centre.

Breathe with your attention at the heart chakra.

And more and more sense a green glow filling your heart.

And sensing into the medicine of the heart chakra,

Feeling the energy of your heart enveloping you with love.

And attention now moves to the middle of the throat.

Breathing in and out of the throat chakra.

And as you breathe here,

Sense a sky blue glow filling your throat.

And sensing into the medicine of the throat chakra,

Fully expressing yourself,

The true you.

And feel into this as you breathe in and out here.

And now moving awareness to the third eye,

The space between your eyebrows.

And breathe in and out here.

Sensing an indigo glow at the space between your eyebrows.

And sense into the medicine of the third eye,

Following your intuition and seeing things clearly.

Sense into this energy as you breathe here.

And now connect with the crown of your head.

Feel the expanded awareness of your crown energy.

Your chakra completely open as you breathe into this area.

And as you breathe here,

Sense a white light filling the crown of your head.

And as you breathe here,

There is a sense of all is one,

Of being whole unto yourself and within the universe.

Breathe here.

And now feel this white light merge with all the energies of your chakras.

Sense or imagine the whole body filled with white light.

All chakras purified,

Clear and balanced.

Feel into this.

And now letting attention for the chakras fade away.

As you bring your attention to the space behind your eyelids.

And let your mind drift off.

Dropping deeper and deeper into stillness.

And now sense or see yourself resting in the most magnificent,

Peaceful garden.

The garden of deep rest.

Notice your body on the ground as if you're looking down on yourself from a bird's eye view.

Your senses are wide open.

What do you feel?

Perhaps the vibration of Mother Earth as you rest on her.

Or the temperature or quality of the air you breathe.

What do you see or hear in your rest garden?

And are there any scents or smells that you recognise?

Notice the position you're resting in and how peaceful you seem.

In this magnificent,

Peaceful place you are completely at ease.

Here there is space to rest.

Observe yourself resting in supreme stillness.

There is nothing for you to do.

Just sense all forms of exhaustion dissolving and leaving your body.

And now notice your body filling with a healing colour.

Renewing every cell and atom.

Rest here for a couple of minutes as you sense your healing colour.

Running through your body,

Renewing you.

You are now in an energy field where intentions can be heard and manifested.

Repeat your sankalpa or intention softly to yourself three times.

Sense your intention as if it's happening right now,

Unfolding like a dream.

Now deepen your breath.

Feeling the belly and chest rise and fall with each inhalation and exhalation.

And now breathe in and out of your navel point.

And when it feels right,

Ask for a soul whisper.

A message from your soul.

This may be something you sense or arrive as an image,

Word or phrase.

Listen.

If you receive a soul whisper,

Notice how it feels in your body.

If you haven't received a soul whisper,

Trust that it will come after the nidra,

Perhaps during your day or in dream time.

Now allow your breath to return to normal and take a moment to notice how you feel right now.

And now bring attention to the air in your mouth or nose as you breathe.

Bring awareness to where you are in space and time.

On planet Earth.

In the country you reside.

In the town that you're in.

Within the boundaries of the building you're in.

The room that you're in.

And feel your body touching the surface you've been resting on.

The body is quiet.

The mind is calm.

The heart open.

And as you feel ready,

You might like to very slowly move your extremities,

Your fingers and toes.

Or you might like to start wakening your body by lifting your hands and perhaps gently stroking your face or pitter patter raindrops on your head.

And this completes your yoga nidra for today.
