Thanks so much for joining me today.
I'm Fran and this is a guided visualization to help you shrug off the worries and stresses of the day,
Feeling grateful for all that you have and all that you are.
You can use this any time of day,
But make sure you won't be disturbed for the next few minutes.
This moment is just for you.
Before we begin our visualization,
Let's take a moment to breathe deeply and focus on relaxing.
After a long day,
Gently close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth and with each exhale any tension or stress in your body simply melts away.
Feel your body rest comfortably on the surface beneath you,
Whether that's a chair or a bed.
The weight of your body sinks down as you get more relaxed.
Breathe in,
Hold and breathe out.
Breathe in,
Hold and breathe out.
Now I want you to imagine yourself at the end of a pretty little front garden.
The sky above you is a clear blue and you can hear birds in the trees surrounding the garden.
There are dozens of wildflowers growing that make the garden look more like a miniature meadow.
You look down at your feet and you notice there are ten smooth slabs creating a pathway up to a wooden door of a cozy stone cottage.
You take a step forward onto the first slab,
The tenth slab,
It fills you with a sense of gratitude and calm.
Then you continue and you step onto the ninth slab.
That feeling of gratitude and appreciation for this present moment warms your entire body.
You step again,
Eight,
Seven,
Six and with each footstep you are feeling more calm and peaceful.
With step five you feel tranquility wash over you.
Steps four and three help you feel safe and nurtured on this little path.
And now you are so close to the wooden door which you can now see has beautiful intricate carving.
Step two and you put your hand out in front and you're almost touching the door now.
And step one you run your hand along the rough surface of the door.
Gently,
Curiously you push the door ajar and take a step inside.
The scent of fresh wood shavings fills your nostrils like an aromatic incense.
You take a look around and realize you've stepped into a cozy workshop.
The warm glow of the fire in the corner log burner dances on the stone walls.
You are surrounded by all the tools you need to create a masterpiece.
A beautiful wooden rocking chair and it doesn't matter if you know how to make things out of wood.
Inside this cottage you magically gain the knowledge you need to create something new.
Imagine yourself now carefully selecting the perfect piece of wood for your rocking chair.
You choose a piece of oak known for its strength and durability and begin to lay out your plans.
You measure and mark the wood using a pencil and a ruler to create the design for your rocking chair.
Next you grab your saw and begin cutting the wood to the size and shape you need.
For the legs and armrests of the chair you take your time making sure each cut is precise and accurate.
As you work the wood begins to take shape and you can already envision the finished product.
Once all the pieces are cut you use a chisel and hammer to create grooves and joints for the chair to come together.
You work on the legs and armrests,
Carefully shaping them to fit together seamlessly.
You take a break to sharpen your tools so that you can work on the next step with precision.
With the joints and grooves complete you move on to the backrest and seat.
You use a jigsaw to cut the curved shape of the backrest and the seat.
You then use a rasp and sandpaper to smooth out the edges and give them a more polished look.
With all the pieces cut and shaped you begin to assemble the chair.
You use a hammer and nails to attach the legs and armrests to the seat and backrest.
You test the stability and adjust as necessary.
Finally you sand down the entire chair,
Removing any rough edges and leaving a smooth finish.
You apply a warm honey-coloured stain to the wood bringing out the natural beauty of the oak.
As you step back and admire your work you can see the rocking chair in your mind's eye and you can't wait for someone to sit and relax in it.
Perhaps you have someone specific in mind.
So take a moment to imagine their happiness as you give them this piece of furniture you have created all by yourself.
Until the wood stain dries,
You take up a stool close to the log burner and notice a kettle has been simmering away on top.
You grab a chipped mug from a little shelf and pour yourself a steaming cup of your favourite beverage using the water in the kettle.
As you settle down and admire your new chair you take a deep drink from your mug.
The warming liquid flows down your throat and the heat flows out towards your fingers and toes.
You feel rejuvenated and renewed.
Your body is grateful for the nourishment from this drink and you feel full of vitality and joy.
Perhaps there is something specific you're thinking about right now that you feel grateful and appreciative of.
I'll leave you a minute or two just to think about what this might be and I'll come back for you.
It's me again.
It's now time to leave.
But I want you to know that you can come back here any time you need peace and quiet to work on crafting something new.
You set down your mug and walk back towards the wooden door.
Swinging it open,
The sunlight from outside fills the room and you see those little stone slabs in front of you again.
You close the door behind you and set off back down the path.
1.
You feel so grateful for the chance to craft something beautiful with your own two hands.
2.
You're feeling confident and capable.
3,
4 and 5.
You're getting ready to come back to your everyday life.
6,
7,
With 8.
You are calm and content.
9.
You feel reassured that everything's going to be okay.
And 10.
You've reached the end of the garden and you can come back whenever you like.
You can now get on with your day feeling calmer,
Relaxed and grateful.
Thank you so much for joining me and take care of yourself.
