Leçon 1
Getting The Most From This Course & Connecting With The Self
In this session we discuss the overarching goals of this course and how you can get the most out of it. Then we touch upon what poetry actually is and how you should approach the writing of your poetry within this course. We look at the poem ‘Dear Little Part Of Me’ using it as a touching point for connecting with the self and embracing silence as a way into peace through poetry.
Leçon 2
The Internal Editor
In this session we look at the presence and impact of the internal editor – the part of us that is judgmental, critical, and embarrassed – first asking it to step aside to allow us to write, and then to return to allow us to refine and express a specific point, emotion, or feeling. The poem ‘Music Of The Ever Present Moment’ was used to highlight the freedom of expression and poetic flow that can lead to peace.
Leçon 3
Writing Therapy
In this session we introduce the concept of writing therapy, the idea of using the page as a place to express what otherwise hasn’t been expressed. From there we looked over our words to uncover overarching themes and then attempted to find symbolism as a way to highlight what we are feeling and then subsequently take action, either in life, or on the page. This process of identification and refinement was modeled through the poem ‘I Float’.
Leçon 4
From The Body To The Page
In this session we introduce the poem ‘Broken Pottery’ as a lead into to a body scan – the goal being to identify and release tensions in the body and capture the feelings and emotions upon the page. This process will lead to deep insights and evocative poetry and ultimately peace.
Leçon 5
Internal Asking
In this session we delve deep into the subconscious. Though the internal asking of questions we are attempting to uncover what we need to know about ourselves and then to express it. I model this process with the poem ‘Inertia’ using it to highlight the answers to my inquiry and offer it to you as a guide for yours!
Leçon 6
Connecting To The Present Moment
In this session we discuss the different ways a poem may wish to be expressed, reworking the poem ‘This Moment Is Mine’ into different forms. We discuss the overarching goal of this course, emphasizing the goal of attaining peace. This session ends with a practice you can take beyond this course that will help you attain peace through poetry every day.
