This course will show you how to significantly reduce the severity and duration of your daily suffering.
No matter what we do, no matter how well we live, pain is inevitable. We have finite lives and constant needs that must be met. Accidents, injuries, illness, and eventually death comes for us all.
These things cannot be avoided.
But we can stop ourselves from making it worse, from falling into rumination, fear, anxiety, faulty cognitions, and downward cycles of unnecessarily and unhelpfully beating ourselves up:
- Dwelling in fear of pain continuing
- Ruminating over what our suffering ‘means’
- Making unhealthy comparisons to others or an unattainable ideal
This course will reframe your suffering using the Buddhist concept of ‘the second arrow’ – highlighting how we may not be able to stop bad things arising, but we can stop (or at least positively alter) our internal response to them.
You will learn how to identify and address distressing thoughts through the use of mindfulness meditation techniques, routine change, cognitive reframing, and habit building.
This course is a quick and accessible way to begin eliminating unnecessary suffering from your life.
I look forward to seeing you in the first session!

Leçon 1
Recognising The Second Arrow
This session will help you to identify the ways in which we add unnecessary suffering to our lives by reframing all the rumination, fear, comparisons, judgements, and unhelpful thoughts as 'the second arrow' - a collective term that once known can be used to label, and thus help us to begin the process of dissolving all of the additional pain that arises.
Leçon 2
Addressing The Second Arrow
This session will help you to begin addressing the second arrow through the application of mindfulness meditation techniques: observing, noticing, labelling, and sitting with it without judgement.
Leçon 3
Learning From The Second Arrow
This session will help you to establish a meditation practice into your day through the use of habit building and implementing a routine - this ongoing practice will result in you naturally catching the second arrows as they arise and improving your skills at processing them when they do.
