Commencer Jour 1
Ce que vous apprendrez
This course offers up ideas about the craft of poetic expression, providing exercises and guidelines for the creative writing process. Poet and author of seven books Jacqueline Suskin pulls ideas from her latest book, Every Day Is a Poem, to guide and remind us that we all have the ability to create a poetic mindset. Her lessons weave insight and poetic grandeur and explore how poetry can import us out of an otherwise difficult and often overwhelming existence. Over the next 10 days Suskin suggests ways to use poetry as a tool for finding clarity and feeling relief, igniting curiosity about the smallest details and bringing a sense of awe to everyday life. Join Jacqueline in a quest to rediscover the beauty of words and in doing so, yourself and your life.

Leçon 1
Permission To Be A Poet
On this first day, I invite you to give yourself permission to be a poet. We’ll look at what holds you back when it comes to writing and we’ll go over various ways to help get you started. I’ll also ask questions guiding you to figure out why you want to write, how to find your creative focus, and what to consider while dreaming up your ideal poetic practice.
Leçon 2
Read A Lot Of Poetry
On day two, we’ll explore the importance of reading poetry and I’ll offer up a few methods that have helped me integrate this practice into my daily life. Poetry is an oral tradition, and I’ll go over the significance of reading it aloud for comprehension and enjoyment. The best way to invite poetry into your life is to read it each and every day.
Leçon 3
Writing Practice
Today, I ask you to imagine your ideal writing practice. What does it look like to build a routine around creative expression? What is holding you back from making this happen? We’ll delve into the necessity of a writing ritual and I’ll provide many examples of practices to enrich your process.
Leçon 4
A Room Of One's Own
On day four, we’ll look at the way space affects writing practice. In order to invest in a reliable writing routine, you’ll need a space where you can focus on the craft. This can look like a room where you’re able to shut the door and be with your thoughts or a corner of the house that’s just yours. How can you create this for yourself? I’ll offer up some potential options as we focus on the influence of solitude as it relates to successful poetic practice.
Leçon 5
Write In A Journal
Today, I’ll highlight the essential aspects of keeping a journal and the ways that this practice uplifts a poetic mindset. I’ll go over some journaling techniques and guide us through the benefits of handwritten creativity.
Leçon 6
The Universe Speaks
On day six, we’ll look at the many ways that listening to the universe comes into play with poetic practice. I’ll discuss my rituals, as well as other methods of divination that aid me in my quest to best receive the language of the universe that I translate into poetry.
Leçon 7
Make Time For Visions & Dreams
Today, I’ll focus on the creative influence of visions and dreams. My poetry revolves around many experiences I have during meditation or sleep, and I often pull from these realms as I write. I’ll go over the ways that I tend to this practice of remembering my dreams and accessing my visions. I’ll also discuss the potency of incorporating the subconscious into your creative work.
Leçon 8
Don't Forget The Body
On day eight, I’ll go over the importance of caring for your mind, body, and spirit in order to maintain a healthy landing place for the creative muse. If we don’t tend to our physical wellbeing, or our mental and spiritual wellness, then our poetic practice will suffer. In this lesson, I’ll move us through various methods that help nurture clarity and connection with the divine by way of self-care.
Leçon 9
The Magic Of Editing
Today, I’ll discuss the cornerstones of editing. Coming from someone who created a full-time career out of writing spontaneous poems, it often surprises people how much I honor the editing process. The magic of a poem arrives in different phases and the editing phase is as influential as the rest. I’ll go over the ways that I approach editing and offer some of my favorite revisionary tools.
Leçon 10
How We Are Healed
On this final day, we’ll explore the ways that poetry heals and transforms us. I often turn to poetry when I’m lost, in pain, or when I’m grieving. In this lesson, we’ll connect with the therapeutic aspects of the craft, and see how poetry can be the vessel for your grief, for your trauma, and your deepest desires.

I have been a poet all my life but it wasn't until last year that I came to that realization and had the courage to declare my poet self to the world. Loved your imagery, your words, your quirkiness. Thank you for your insights and instruction.

This is an excellent course! There's a lot of helpful information and sharing of poetry that would have made this a good course. What makes this an excellent course is the openness about the spiritual aspect of poetry writing. The level of spiritual confidence has been of great help to me.

I was looking for a starting point for my poetry journey and this was such the perfect gift to stumble upon after searching for courses online. I was so concerned with structure and frameworks and this was actually what mattered more and kick started my process in an unexpectededly beautiful way.

Thank you for sharing your journey through this course. I’ll return again and again to some of your stories and suggestions as I make my way back to the written page..... I was totally blocked from writing, even though deep down, I identify as a poet. It’s been so good to be able to walk with you. I’m encouraged, and no longer feel so alone.

I wasn't sure what to expect in this course. But whatever it was I received much more. I bow low to you in sacred gratitude. You have sparked a child-like, innocent wonder. Rekindled a not at all morbid curiosity to explore the awful and ugly, realizing that it to can be beautiful when held with love and seen through compassionate lenses. I see...

Makes poetry and its writing so accessible and natural. A wonderful reminder of the wide range of “voice” that is still true poetry.
