So to get started,
Just go ahead and find yourself in a comfortable position.
You'll be here for about 10 to 15 minutes.
So you can be lying on your back,
Maybe with something under your knees to support you,
Or you can be on your cushion.
If you're sitting comfortably,
You can be lying on your back.
If you're sitting cross-legged,
Make sure to have your hips above your knees,
So sit on something.
And just go ahead and close your eyes if that feels comfortable to you.
And just take a few deep breaths.
You can practice by inhaling through your nose,
And exhaling through your mouth.
I want you to find yourself in the middle of your head.
This is called your meditation sanctuary.
So it's just a point equidistant between your ears,
The top of your head,
And the back of your neck.
So if you were to draw a line from those three places into the center of your head,
You would find yourself at your hypothalamus gland,
Otherwise known as your meditation sanctuary.
And it really is just the seat of our consciousness,
The root of our awareness.
Just take a moment to greet yourself,
Which means just say hello quietly to yourself inside your head,
And listen for your spirit to respond back.
So once you've said hello,
I want you to imagine some connection between your body and Mother Earth.
So some kind of visualization,
And this will be your grounding cord or your grounding connection.
Some people like to use the image of tree roots or a waterfall coming off their sit bones and flowing down into Mother Earth.
The idea is just to pick something that you connect with that connects your body right now through time and space deep into Mother Earth.
You don't have to be sitting on the earth.
You can be a thousand stories up in a skyscraper,
But you're still finding a connection to Mother Earth through an image.
So just take a few moments to find the image that works best for you today.
And I'm going to give you a few more if you're having trouble.
Could be a tree.
Could be a chain with an anchor,
And the anchor connects into Mother Earth.
Could be a cord,
A golden tube of light,
A laundry chute,
Something that connects your body to Mother Nature,
To Mother Earth.
That's going to allow negativity and anxiety and worry to flow out of your body and get recycled by Mother Earth.
There's definitely a downward pulling.
Gravity is pulling down on you and using this cord to connect you to the earth.
So once you've got your cord,
Take a moment and make sure it's as wide as your sit bones,
As wide as your hips.
So it's not just that you're balancing your tailbone on this.
It's really a wide channel,
A wide river waterfall conduit for negativity to move out of your system and be recycled and composted.
Now that you've got your cord set,
We're just going to do a quick body scan.
And as you breathe into that area of your body,
I want you to imagine as you breathe out,
Sending any pain,
Tension,
Blocked energy,
Murkiness,
Negativity,
Shame,
Guilt,
Unworthiness.
Imagine as you breathe out,
That energy flows down through your body,
Out through the grounding cord and into Mother Earth.
And you no longer carry it with you.
You no longer have to think about it.
You simply let it go.
So starting at the top of your head and back into just your skull and your eyes and your forehead,
Just notice any negativity and breathe it down,
Out,
Into Mother Earth.
Relax the area behind your eyes,
Your temples and your jaw and your chin and your ears,
Releasing any negativity.
Moving down into your shoulders and your chest and your heart area.
Taking a deep breath,
Releasing down into the ground.
Moving to your upper back,
The back of your neck,
Your shoulder blades,
The spine.
Breathing in and breathing down and out all negativity.
Moving to your upper arms,
Your elbows,
Your lower arms,
Your hands,
Releasing negativity down into there.
Moving into your belly and your internal organs,
Your stomach.
Maybe just pausing and thanking your body,
Your systems,
Organ systems for doing all the hard work they do all the time.
Taking a big,
Deep belly breath,
Relaxing as you breathe out any tension or negativity.
Moving down into your pelvic bowl,
Your bum,
Your head.
