This meditation will help you practice gratitude, compassion, and acceptance towards your body. I guide you to reflect on what you've been saying or feeling towards your body in a spacious and calm way, so you can begin to move your words and feelings towards gratitude, compassion, and acceptance. Please know that cultivating a neutral and better body image takes time, kindness, practice and consistency. Be proud for showing up to practice this today. Ease in.

Transcript

Before we begin I want you to really pause to reflect on choosing to do this meditation,

Choosing to give yourself some time and attention.

So just sitting with that for a moment before we begin and remembering that you're here to try and give yourself some care and attention.

And this might feel a little bit difficult in places or uncomfortable but always know you can tune back into the breath,

Breathe in some kindness and compassion towards yourself.

So to do that let's start by focusing on the breath and just relax into this moment by breathing in through your nose nice and deeply and out through your mouth.

Let's do that again breathing in deeply through your nose and out through your mouth.

Just continue deep breathing in your own time in that way or just inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the nose.

Begin to really relax now and tune into your body for a moment whether you're lying down or sitting down just noticing the space where you are,

Noticing how your body feels in the chair you're sat on or the bed you're lying on.

Just notice what it feels like to physically be here and take a moment to just connect,

Connect to your body to feel where you are right here and right now.

Just here to notice and I want you to begin to reflect on how you've spoken to your body today.

What kind of language has your body heard from you today?

When you've maybe seen it in the mirror or a window what kind of thoughts did you have about your body?

Or when you saw other bodies in the media or around you can you recall any comparisons,

Criticisms,

Unkind statements?

I'm not here to shame you we're here to just reflect on how you actually feel about your body because awareness is that first step to making some changes.

So just try to sit with that just for a few moments.

How have you spoken to your body today?

And I know this can be hard but we're here to try and make some shifts.

So I now invite you to place your hands on a part of your body that you might have been a bit critical towards.

Perhaps in that reflection or in those words,

Thoughts,

Comparisons.

So what part of your body has taken some hits today?

And I want you to rest your hands on that place of your body.

Feeling that physical sensation of the touch on your body.

Resting your hands on that place.

I want you to breathe into that now and this if there's multiple places pick one that needs the most attention and love perhaps.

And as you breathe in I want you to send gratitude to this part of your body.

What does this part of your body do for you?

Going beyond how it looks to think about how it keeps you going.

So what does this part of your body do for you?

And as you think about this show gratitude and thanks and appreciation to that part of your body.

How does it keep you going?

Can you say thank you for carrying me.

I recognize you digest for me.

Thank you for breathing for me.

Thank you for holding me up.

Thank you for not having pain today here.

Thank you for letting me know when I need to rest.

Thank you for your signals.

Thank you for responding.

Thank you for taking me to the places I've been to.

Thank you for connecting me with other people and other bodies.

Thank you for all you do for me day to day.

Tap into this gratitude and think about it in a way you maybe never have before.

Tuning into what the body is doing for you.

What it's supporting you with.

Trying to shift your mind to the fact your body is an instrument not an ornament.

What matters most is how you feel in your body not what it looks like.

And this practice and this shift will take time to practice gratitude as the first step.

I want you to invite you to take it beyond gratitude if that feels okay and begin to connect to compassion.

So saying to your body I know we've been through a lot.

We're up against a lot of expectations.

We've been told mean things.

We've heard mean things.

We've been through mean things and I know what that suffering is like.

I understand.

So we're shifting from appreciation to compassion.

You understand what your body has been through and is up against.

So now I invite you to move from compassion to acceptance.

Trying to say I accept you body.

I recognize your worth.

I take this moment to connect to you.

To recognize what you do for me.

I want to live in line with you not against you.

I want to treat you more kindly.

Breathe into that.

Notice how that feels.

Thank you body.

Take a couple of nice deep breaths.

So I invite you to practice that every day if possible.

Connecting to the idea of gratitude,

Compassion,

Acceptance for your body.

Your body image will be improved over time with consistency and practice and please know we're all up against lots of messages about our bodies every single day and you can only do the best that you can but you're here now.

Choose to try and accept your body and all it does for you.

Your relationship to your body is with you and you have to live with your body.

So I invite you to try and make it a positive experience.

So come back to this whenever you feel the need to.

To take a moment to connect to your body and be kind.
