Good morning,
Let's take 3 minutes to check in with our breath and our body so we can start this day from a place that is centered and grounded.
Begin by reaching the top of your head taller toward the ceiling,
Lengthening through your spine and then start to squeeze your shoulders up,
Up,
Up,
Closer to your ears,
Feel the neck muscles tensing,
Squeezing the shoulders up,
Now pull your shoulders back a little bit and allow your shoulders to drop down,
Imagine your shoulder blades gliding down your back,
Notice your elbows and imagine I tied tiny little weights to your elbows and suddenly they feel heavier,
Sinking toward the floor,
Drawing your shoulders down and holding them there,
Close your eyes and bring your attention to the skin across your forehead and soften,
Soften the forehead and the cheeks and across your jaw and then notice,
Notice the breath coming in through the nose,
Feel the air passing through the nostrils,
Take a long smooth breath in feeling the air,
As you let the air out listen for the whisper sound of your breath,
Take an even longer inhale and a longer exhale,
With every inhale feel the air coming in through the nostrils,
With every exhale listen for the sound of your breath and then begin to imagine what breath would look like if you could see it,
Maybe a soft light or a hazy fog,
And in your mind's eye visualize the breath coming in,
Traveling down the back of your throat,
Spreading left and right into the lungs,
Visualize the air coming back up out of the lungs,
Up the back of the throat,
Out through the nose and dissipating off into the air in the room,
And begin to imagine for a moment that there are no lungs and the air comes in and it just fills up your entire ribcage,
Pressing against the insides of the ribcage,
As you exhale pressure releases,
The muscles around your torso soften,
The chest falls,
On your next big inhale imagine the breath traveling all the way down into your belly,
As you exhale feel the belly naturally draw back as the breath empties,
Inhale filling up the ribcage and the belly,
Allow the belly to expand forward,
Exhale the belly draws back,
The ribcage softens and the chest drops,
On the next inhale draw the breath even deeper as if it could fill up your hips,
As you exhale imagine the breath takes with it any scattered,
Chaotic,
Heavy energy you woke up with left over from yesterday or last night,
That you don't need to carry with you into this new day,
Once more big inhale filling up,
Gathering up anything that's no longer needed,
Exhale let it go,
Give it up to the universe.
