Rest is essential to our well-being and health, yet in our busy modern society it can feel quite elusive. Creating time for rest allow us to slow down and become aware of the residual tension we may be carrying. In this meditation you will begin to allow tension to melt away from you and create spaciousness in and around your body. Background music by Meditative Mind.

Hello and welcome to this meditation for deep rest and restoration.

I recommend doing this specific meditation laying down.

So I invite you to choose a position where you feel completely relaxed and comfortable,

Supported.

This could be in Shavasana on a mat.

This may be in your bed,

Supported by your pillows.

So take a moment here to get settled in,

Get comfortable.

Allow yourself to receive this meditation,

To receive rest.

And before you close your eyes,

I invite you to take a look around you,

Allowing your head and your eyes to travel from side to side,

From top to bottom.

Even if this is a space that you know very well,

Just taking a moment here to allow your eyes to rest on the objects in your space,

The colors,

Becoming aware,

Moving your head around.

And when it feels appropriate,

May allow your eyelids to get heavy,

To close.

If you would like to,

You can use a scarf or an eye pillow to cover your eyes.

And we will take a couple of breaths here,

Starting with an inhale,

And then we'll take a inhale through the nose,

Tracking the air as it moves down your throat and into your lungs.

Lungs expanding,

Big belly breath.

And exhaling tension from your head,

Moving down your neck,

Towards your shoulders,

Down your arms,

Towards your hands.

And through the fingertips,

Moving away from you.

Inhale through the nose,

Moving down your throat,

Towards your lungs,

Lungs expanding,

Big belly breath.

Exhale,

Tension leaving your chest,

Moving down your torso,

Towards your hips,

Towards your legs,

Moving down your legs,

Towards your heels,

Through your feet,

Through your toes,

Moving away from your body.

And last time,

Inhale through the nose,

Towards the lungs,

Big belly breath.

And exhale to release any residual tension,

Allowing those parts to soften,

Offering a little bit of sweetness,

Awareness,

Tender,

Loving care towards these parts that tend to hold residual tension,

Offering them the chance to become extra soft,

Extra heavy,

Allowing your body to be held,

Supported by the surface beneath you,

By the earth.

You may even sigh here if you would like,

Whole body sigh of relief,

As you allow yourself to settle,

Allowing your breath to follow a natural rhythm,

In and out.

And as you soften,

You allow yourself to be breathed.

There is nothing to control here,

Nothing to do,

Nothing to be.

When we allow our physical body to rest,

We create space,

Space to allow our emotional body,

Mental body and spiritual body to rest as well.

Imagine the space that you are creating inside of each cell,

Throughout your body and around your body,

Space to allow your mind to be free,

Space that you are creating within your mind,

Vast open space like the galaxy or an open field,

Where the air is fresh,

Like a gentle breeze on your cheek.

It feels good,

Light,

Allowing any tension,

Whether it's mental tension,

Emotional tension,

Physical or spiritual,

Allowing it all to melt away from you.

Replaced is spaciousness,

Lightness,

Openness,

Awareness,

Awareness that the space is always available to you,

That this space is always within and around you.

Allowing ourselves to rest is deeply grounding,

Deeply healing.

And in this present moment,

Feel the restoration vibrating throughout your physical body,

Your cells and yourself as a whole,

Each part of you,

Especially the parts that needed the most,

Receiving this rest,

Receiving this restoration.

There is no end goal.

And the breath continues to move throughout you.

And you continue to allow yourself to be breathed,

Taking an inhale through the nose,

Big belly breath,

Exhale it all out,

Starting to bring your awareness back towards your hands and your feet.

We start to wiggle your toes and your fingers,

Start to move your head from left to right.

I invite you to wrap your arms around your chest and give yourself a big hug.

We're taking the time to slow down and connect within with yourself.

We're taking this time to invite just a couple of minutes of rest into your day.

When you're ready,

Come back to your space.

You may open your eyes and take a look around you once more.

Thank you for listening to this meditation.

Many blessings.

Take care.
