When we're going through a tough time,
Our minds tell us the story that it's just me.
These thoughts,
These feelings,
It tells us that they're not normal,
That everyone else seems to have it all okay.
And so this meditation is about gently drip-feeding into our subconscious that we have the capacity to move through this by recognizing that these stories that come up into our mind are not true.
It's about accessing that wisdom from deep within us,
That we know this is not true.
And as I gently listen to these words,
And as I gently notice the softness of my breath,
I come to know this even more.
Being lost in our thoughts,
Being caught up in a tough time,
Is part and parcel of what being human means.
And responding differently,
With a gentle openness,
Is what shines the light upon our spirituality.
Not taught to know about the human mind,
How it's an amazing servant,
But a terrible master.
An amazing servant when we use it to plan,
Create,
And act upon things in life that matter to us.
A terrible master because we don't usually use our minds.
Very rarely,
In fact,
They use us.
And as I gently listen to these words,
And gently notice the softness of my breath,
I come to know this even more.
Some of our most intimate moments of the day can be with the breath.
It holds our ability to go down a level into the body,
Into the one spot where you can manage.
It is not a wild animal.
It is you wound away to release this energy.
It does not need to be coaxed or tricked to work.
It needs you present.
Please find a nice position for this practice.
Have your back up against the wall,
Your spine erect.
Place your hands in your lap,
Left hand beneath your right,
Gently sitting in your lap,
Resting.
The behind is firmly on the surface and up against the wall.
Take a moment to adjust your spine so that you are comfortably sitting up against the wall,
Resting your head up against the wall,
Shoulders back,
Relaxed.
The face muscles soften.
The neck softens,
Softens.
The abdomen is slightly engaged to help keep the spine erect.
Legs and feet relax.
Relax the entire body.
Relax.
The sensation of lightness washes over you.
Heaviness moves out.
Breathe in.
The sensation of lightness washes over you.
Breathe.
Heaviness moves out.
The sensation of lightness washes over you.
Heaviness moves out.
As you breathe in,
Notice the body getting comfortable like it is being massaged.
The surface beneath you is strong.
There is a sense of stability,
Of connecting to the surface.
Breathing into the surface beneath you and the grounding that's available to you.
Notice your body taking energy up from the earth and the surface beneath you and you're absorbing that into your body with your awareness.
Mother Earth has so much to teach us.
What does she have to say to you in this moment?
Mother Earth has so much to teach us.
What does she have to say to you in this moment?
The sensation of openness washes over you.
The resistance moves into understanding.
The sensation of openness washes over you.
The resistance moves into understanding.
The sensation of openness washes over you.
The resistance moves into understanding.
This moment is just you watching from one place.
You feel your breath.
It feels good to be.
Your heart yearns for release.
But what cost must it come at?
Your release is in getting out of the way of yourself.
Here,
In this space,
You are able to observe the fluctuations of your body.
Give yourself some time to appreciate that it's not some small thing.
You being empowered to take ownership of your energy is big time.
Every time the body gives you a distraction that takes you away,
Gently remind yourself that it's just a fluctuation of energy.
You have the choice to be taken along for a ride with it,
Or you can watch it carefully.
You can find the softness to accept that it's there and you can breathe through it.
Breathe in.
The sensation of surrendering washes over you.
Breathe out.
The stubbornness to learn life lessons moves into compassion.
Breathe in.
The sensation of surrendering washes over you.
Breathe out.
The stubbornness to learn life lessons moves into compassion.
The sensation of surrendering washes over you.
Breathe out.
The stubbornness to learn life lessons moves into compassion.
Place to be is now.
In the driver's seat of you experiencing each and every moment.
You cannot be anywhere else,
But now you can get distracted with what has already happened,
Possibly happened.
There is just the gentle reminding that our power is in our very nature.
Nature is in both distinct and subtle ways.
If you change the subtle ways of your being,
You'll also start to experience a new possibility to change the bigger aspects within you.
So breathe with a sense of love.
Feel the surface beneath you as nourishing stability for you.
How does it feel to keep your hands in the mudra supported,
Surrendered?
Allow for the next few moments to be for you to rest in the spaciousness.
Distractions are greeted with compassion.
We are good in nature and that can be referred as ourselves slipping gentleness over aggression because you are worth it to act act as your home base because you deserve a home.
Take a moment to rest in the spaciousness.
Can you feel as I notice the scope of what I can see behind my closed eyes?
The patterns,
The colors.
I am.
I am the witness that looks out from behind my eyes.
I am a pillar of awareness.
I am the observer of all my experiences.
I choose to hold my inner experiences lightly.
Thoughts,
Feelings,
Our energies in motion.
I choose to hold myself lightly when going through a tough time.
I choose to parent myself parent myself.
I choose to gently acknowledge the darkness and in doing so I am the light that shines upon it.
May my thoughts and feelings have the space to come and go.
My consciousness is evolving every single time I notice an unhelpful thought and hold it lightly.
May I be conscious and continue to evolve and so it is.
