Welcome to today's meditation.
Positive thinking.
Take some time to find your comfortable position.
I recommend being upright for this.
You may even like to stand with your feet planted about hip-width distance.
Or if you prefer to sit,
Feel free to sit against the back of a chair,
Or even against a wall if you like support.
You may be sitting on a bolster or a couple of cushions.
And if you can,
Cross the legs so that the hips begin to open and the knees sit lower than the hips.
Bring yourself into an upright posture with the spine,
So you can feel the vertebrae of the spine lifting up and out away from the hips and pelvis.
And if you're standing,
You can do this too at the same time that you connect the feet to the floor and soften the knees,
So that there is a looseness in the joints at the same time as an openness and a lift of the heart as you drop the shoulders down the back.
Take a couple of breaths here as you settle into this position.
And you may like to lay the back of the left palm onto the inside of the right palm,
So that the palms face up towards the ceiling.
When the fingers curl gently into the hands,
It's like you're making a cup out of the hands,
Just resting one hand on top of the other with both palms turned upwards.
And again,
Just take a couple of breaths here,
Expanding and releasing.
Allow the eyes to soften and the corners of the eyes to turn down,
And perhaps to bring a gentle smile to the lips.
If it's comfortable,
Take the gaze up to the third eye space between the eyes and begin to visualize a purple light glowing,
A rich purple,
And allowing that light and the warmth of that light to spread across the forehead,
Into the eyebrows,
And into the eyeballs and the eye sockets.
All too often when life gets upturned,
Or things go wrong,
Or things get snatched from beneath our feet,
It's so easy to catastrophize and to feel that the house of cards has come tumbling down.
And yet through this simple practice I want to invite you to brighten your idea of your life and your future,
And to begin to see that there are ways forward and through,
And that the landscape up ahead may well be a lot brighter than your darkening imagination is allowing.
I want you to now keep this visualization of a purple glowing light at the third eye,
And to keep your gaze,
Your drishti,
Set upon it,
And to bring to mind something that is troubling you,
The circumstances or outcomes of which are making you feel negative,
Drained,
Fearful.
Keep the purple light strong,
And keep it stronger than your imagination of this outcome,
This fear,
This circumstance that is weighing you down,
That is making you feel negative.
I want you to bring to mind something else that you have triumphed over,
Another occasion in your life where you felt you'd hit the brick wall,
That you'd exhausted all avenues,
That you couldn't overcome.
And just to go back in your mind's eye over how you navigated that,
To bring to mind the emotions of courage,
Bravery,
Strength,
And self-belief,
And to feel the strength of those qualities building from the root of your body,
Through the belly,
Through the solar plexus,
Through the heart,
Through the imagination,
And to the crown of your head.
So that as you hold this purple light in your mind's eye at the third eye space,
You also spread that light and build that strength and courage from the inside out.
Allow yourself to rise above the situation that you find yourself in,
And to get a sense of yourself growing above it and beyond it,
Knowing that whatever fear is lurking in the corners of your mind or in the vista of your imagination for what the future holds,
That you will and you can rise above it and beyond it.
So at the same time that you are feeling yourself rooted to the ground beneath you,
You also feel strong in your body and strong in your sense of self,
Allowing this purple light to fill your mind's eye,
Your landscape,
Your mentality,
Your body,
Your heart,
And your whole being.
Taking a moment here,
A few moments just to soak in,
To absorb that sense of strength and courage that gives you positivity for what comes next.
This is your reminder that you always get to choose when the clouds of doubt and frustration,
Fear and worry begin to cloud over,
That you get to choose this penetrating strength,
This penetrating light that dispels gloom,
That dispels negative forecasts,
And refuels and refills you with a feeling of optimism and self-assurance for the future.
Come back to this touchstone anytime you need it,
Anytime those clouds begin to murk up your inner landscape and your sense of where you're going.
With fortitude and positivity,
Namaste.
