Welcome to your morning meditation.
Let's find a comfortable seat with the legs crossed,
Sitting on a cushion or a bolster.
And as you find your seat,
Take a nice deep breath in,
Feeling the body rise,
Filling the body with that nourishing breath before opening the mouth,
As if you were blowing through a straw.
And just letting that breath gently escape.
Take a couple more breaths in this same way,
Getting a sense of the body filling up with the morning,
With the day ahead.
And as you breathe out,
You're letting go of any stale air that lives at the bottom of the lungs and the belly.
So with your next breath in,
I'd like you to imagine that you're drawing in the whole of the sunlight of the morning.
Feeling the rays of the sun and the warmth of the sun filling up the mind's eye,
Expanding through the crown of the head and down into the legs and the toes.
And each subsequent breath that you draw in,
You're enlarging this light.
It might be bright white or yellow with a warm glow to it.
Just feeling energizing down to the cells in your body,
Replenishing you,
Energizing you.
Anytime you breathe out,
You're just breathing out gently,
Slowing down a long exhale.
If it helps,
You might visualize and even feel the warmth of the sun on your face.
Feel yourself receiving the light,
The warmth and the energy of its rays.
Just introducing your body to morning wakefulness after a good long sleep.
You might say to yourself as you next inhale,
I am energized.
I am energized.
I am energized.
And allow yourself to continue to move forward in your meditation as we set up an intention or what we call a sankalpa.
You might repeat in your mind's eye or out loud in the space that you're in.
Today I am healthy.
Today I am full of life.
Today I open to all the gifts life has to offer me.
I greet today with a smile.
I warmly welcome today.
Today I am joyful.
Today I am learning.
Today I am growing.
Today I love myself.
Today I approve of myself.
Today is a good day.
Today I cherish and support myself.
Today I am brave.
I am peaceful.
I am strong.
I am thankful for my life.
We'll just let the resonance of those affirmations permeate the body and the mind.
Allowing ourselves to see the horizon as we prepare to step into a beautiful day,
One that we've never seen before.
Together we remain open to all the possibilities and opportunities that come our way today.
And we set the intention to move carefully,
To consider our thoughts and our words,
To work and talk with intention and purpose and focus.
And to rest when we need it.
May you be strong and healthy,
Happy,
Joyful and peaceful today.
And remember on waking tomorrow that you have a choice about how you frame and start your day,
Beginning with those very first moments of wakefulness.
We can catch ourselves as soon as the alarm goes off,
Just training the mind to orient towards a positive way of looking and thinking by telling ourselves,
Today is a great day.
Today is a beautiful day.
Today I am going to learn something new.
When you wake up tomorrow see if you can implement those affirmations and notice how it changes the course of your morning.
Take a final breath in and if you'd like to close your meditation,
Bring your hands together at your heart space,
Breathing out,
Bend the head down towards the heart,
Giving thanks.
Namaste.
