Welcome.
This is a guided meditation using a candle.
If you do not have a candle,
You can easily close your eyes and use the meditation through your visualization.
Lighting your candle,
Making sure everything round about you is safe.
Coming to a seated upright position.
Just making sure that you're comfortable,
That you're warm.
Taking a deep inhale.
Letting it go with a sigh.
Once more,
Inhaling deeply.
And letting it go.
Just starting to bring your awareness to your body.
Noticing your shoulders.
Making sure that they're relaxed.
No tension.
Moving your awareness to your spine.
Making sure that you're seated nice and straight and that the crown of your head is facing up.
Just continuing to settle into your seat.
Focusing on your breath.
The inhale and the exhale.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes and look at your candle.
Just notice the flame.
Notice the color of the flame.
The shape of the flame.
Notice as you inhale,
Perhaps the flame comes closer towards you.
And as you exhale,
The flame goes further away.
Continuing to focus on your breath.
Your inhale and your exhale through your nose.
Just looking at the flame.
Noticing how it lifts.
How it moves.
Taking a deep inhale and closing your eyes.
Letting your exhale go with a sigh.
Keeping your eyes closed.
And seeing the flame behind your eyelids.
The flame dancing behind your eyelids.
Slowly opening your eyes again.
Noticing the flame flicker.
Bringing your awareness to the color of the candle.
Looking at the patterns the candle is making as it starts to melt.
And perhaps bringing your awareness to the sensation of smell.
Taking a deep inhale and noticing the smell of your candle,
If there is any.
Continuing to watch the flame flicker and dance.
Just letting all of your worries,
All of your tension,
Melt away.
And as you continue to look at the flame,
Try to keep your eyes open without blinking for just a little bit longer.
Soaking in the image of the flame.
Mesmerized by the dancing flame.
Continuing to focus on your inhale and your exhale.
Now closing your eyes.
See the flame continue to dance.
With your eyes closed you can still see the flame.
Noticing how beautiful it is.
Perhaps you see patterns in the flame.
Perhaps you see dancing in the flame.
Taking a deep inhale,
Opening your eyes slowly once again.
Holding your breath for a moment as you exhale with a sigh.
Notice the flame go away from you as you do so.
Notice it dancing even more with your deep exhale.
And just continuing to inhale and exhale through your nose.
As you watch the flame dance.
And just closing your eyes over one more time.
Sitting in silence.
Just picturing the candle in your mind's eye again.
The wax melting down the side.
The colour of your candle.
The size of your candle.
And just bringing your meditation to a close.
Taking a deep inhale.
Letting it out with a sigh.
And slowly opening your eyes one more time.
As we end our meditation.
And if you wish,
You can take one more deep inhale and blow out your candle.
