Hello lovelies,

How are you today?

It's wonderful to talk to you and I hope everything's going really well.

So things over here in my world going well,

Things moving forward.

We've got school starting up well underway.

That's always an exciting time getting all the school supplies,

You know,

Relishing the transition into a new grade.

My daughter's going into sixth grade this year so that's middle school for us here in Tennessee.

So super exciting.

When we were getting all her school curriculum in the mail,

For me it was literally like Christmas time.

Wonderful.

It's too bad I didn't enjoy the learning process and all as much when I was younger being the one receiving all the grades but learning in general,

I love it.

Alright so today we're going to just begin to touch on the topic of cultivating confidence and this is going to be probably a multi-part topic simply because I really think it's one of those foundation areas in life that when we work on mastering it or improving it we can see some amazing results in our life and confidence really is one of those things we can all work on and always have more of,

Right?

So let's dive in.

So if you will,

I want you to visualize an iceberg.

You don't have to do this with your eyes closed or anything like that.

Just draw up an image back of your mind,

Iceberg,

And you've got the icy cold ocean all around it and the bobbing piece of ice that looks like it's just been floating along,

Right?

Super pretty.

So confidence is the tip of the iceberg above the water's surface and it's visible to others and everyone else but you and I know it's what lies below the water's surface that really makes the iceberg a force to be reckoned with.

It's the gigantic mass that actually makes the iceberg such a fierce object.

It's a gigantic mass below the surface making it mighty and what a good sea captain is going to be weary to watch out for,

Right?

So confidence is the tip of the iceberg but what makes it powerful is the bulk below the surface.

It's directly connected to it.

A powerful sustainable level of confidence requires a massive inner support structure to thrive and to serve us well.

If we want to live intentionally then we must cultivate confidence the sustainable kind.

When you have confidence without the bulk of the iceberg,

Well then you just have a floating piece of ice on the water and a ship or another large piece of ice will easily crush right through it.

Now this is a type of confidence too and from above the water it looks similar to the tip of the iceberg but as you and I know the two are completely different in their force and what they're able to do and withstand.

A sheet of ice is not powerful like an iceberg.

In fact this type of confidence is not sustainable because the only way a sheet of ice can survive is if it's the biggest chunk of ice in the water.

If it's not well at any time it can be torn apart and destroyed without much effort.

So we're going to spend the next couple episodes discussing confidence and why we need to cultivate sustainable confidence for an intentional life.

I found that confidence is one of the most useful emotions to create in our in ourself if we desire passionate,

Authentic,

And action-filled future.

Why do we need confidence?

Well confidence is what transforms the dreamer or visionary into the leader,

The trailblazer or the life architect.

Confidence transforms the complacent into the capable,

Willing to be uncomfortable and an explorer of new possibilities.

It transforms the fearful into bamboo that bends,

Willing to be made stronger by the wind.

Confidence is much more than who's got the nicest car,

The biggest house,

Or the fanciest swag on.

I would venture to say this type of confidence is unsustainable and is like the sheet of ice floating on the water.

It's hoping it's just the biggest piece around,

Otherwise it knows it can be easily shattered.

Sustainable,

Powerful confidence is the iceberg,

The door opener.

When you have confidence you are pushing limits,

You are taking new action and welcoming in the unknown.

And why are you doing this?

Because it creates the results you want in your life.

It's what brings in the new unpredictable opportunities that you'll try on to see if it's what will make your next idea a reality or to ask that person out on a date.

Confidence is the door opener,

The movement in the wind.

So if you're a person who is experiencing stagnation in life,

Looking for changes in your future,

Or someone who's at a point in life where perhaps you haven't even reached your goals or maybe haven't even taken them out of the box yet,

Then there's a good chance that what is missing in your life is an abundance of confidence.

So learning how to cultivate confidence will serve you well in creating what you want to experience and have.

Now confidence is like any other emotion and that it is made by your brain.

Your thoughts create confidence.

So here's an example.

Have you ever put on the pair of pants that you just love?

Like they are the pants.

You feel amazing in these pants.

You'll never get rejected in these pants.

No,

No.

These are the pants,

Right?

You know that pair.

Well unfortunately a pair of pants is in a confidence fairy bestowing confidence upon us.

Right?

Be nice if it worked that way,

But no,

No.

It's your thoughts about the pants that make you feel confident.

So cultivating sustainable confidence however requires more inner work than just buying a new pair of pants,

Especially if we want it to penetrate our being and service in many areas of our life much like the iceberg's mass below the water's surface.

Now the feeling we get from an awesome pair of pants is a type of confidence.

It's certainly not bad or something we can't intentionally use to create confidence.

We absolutely can.

In fact,

People have been doing this forever,

But it's short-lived,

Right?

It's just a hit of that extra dose of confidence which can be very useful and pleasant,

But it simply isn't the sustainable kind of confidence that we can also have.

So it's important to realize that it's not the actual pants making you confident.

It's the thoughts you think when you wear the pants that actually make you confident.

Just like the thoughts we think when we put the fat pants on,

Those thoughts make us feel miserable,

Right?

So we start to think horrible thoughts of all kinds about ourselves when we have the fat pants on and what these pants mean about us and how much we've let ourselves down and we may even punish yourself when we have to wear the fat pants.

So do you see how our thoughts are directly related to how we feel and what actions we take?

We must know how to manage our minds so that we are intentionally cultivating thoughts that serve us.

We must know how to manage our minds so that we are intentionally cultivating thoughts that serve us.

And this is the most important takeaway.

Even when the circumstances are unpleasant or not what we are wanting,

This is when managing our minds becomes crucial in order to be intentional creators of our lives.

This means having thoughts that support us even while we're wearing the fat pants.

But this isn't our human nature,

Is it?

It's not at all.

Our brain is wired to freak out and highlight all the negatives.

We have to intentionally decide how we want to feel so we know how we want to think and that's how we create the life we want to experience.

That's living with intention,

My friends.

That's building an iceberg below you and that's managing your mind.

That's freedom.

So cultivating confidence,

It's one of the most amazing life-changing emotions I know of that will create incredible changes for you.

Not to mention you'll begin to see miracles unfold before your eyes.

Opportunities you never knew existed before enter your world and your life becomes more and more aligned with your own authenticity.

That would be a snore from my dog,

By the way.

All right,

So that is it for me today.

In the next episodes we're going to dive in deeper to what confidence is and how to cultivate it.
