Meditation is a wonderful place to let your daydreams run wild.

The world of fantasy and daydream is limitless.

To let your imagination roam free is to let your mind play.

Our minds get tired of doing the same thing over and over again.

It's boring to have to concentrate on work or school for hours at a time.

So it's very natural to have your mind start to wander off.

It's telling you it needs a break or to change things up.

Unfortunately,

A lot of daydreaming or fantasy is pushed away or shut down.

A lot of that healthy processing,

Play,

And discovery is cut off short.

So in today's meditation,

We'll be giving ourselves total permission to delve into the world of our daydreams.

Nothing is off the table and everything is welcome.

To begin,

Pick any daydream or fantasy of yours that you'd like to dive into in this meditation.

Perhaps it's a recurring one that you'd like to explore more in detail.

Or it could be a more recent fantasy that just flew into your mind.

Whatever it may be,

Know that this is a space where there's no need to judge or censor yourself.

If any feelings of guilt or shame come up,

That's totally okay too.

Especially if these are fantasies that we would rather keep private or deem as bad.

What's important is that we feel totally free to delve into all parts of our daydream.

All aspects of our fantasy.

It's almost going to be like sitting back and letting that movie,

That daydream movie,

Play undisturbed for the first time.

So just like we're getting ready to watch a nice movie,

I welcome you to get comfortable.

And you don't have to be sitting in a standard meditation posture.

And we'll begin by checking in with our body,

Noticing if there's any parts of us that are holding tension in or that were rigid or stiff.

And letting yourself breathe a slower,

Deeper belly breath to start to let that tension dissolve.

There may be some parts of us that are a little nervous or anticipating what's going to come up in this meditation.

What's going to happen once I let that bad,

Naughty,

Delusional fantasy of mine come forth?

Let me tell you,

It's going to be fine.

We're in this place we've constructed in meditation where there's no pressure to do anything.

You don't need to act on anything.

And really,

You just let it unfold.

Let it start to play out.

This is usually the easiest part because when we're going through our day and we start to space out a little bit,

The beginnings of a daydream start to come in.

Start to come in and we usually find ourselves lost in it before we snap out of it.

So really,

Let yourself be free to step into the beginnings of this daydream.

And what can help is if we get connected to the environment first.

It's like we're setting the scene.

What do you see when you look around you,

Above you,

Below?

What colors,

What textures stand out to you?

What do you feel in the air,

In the atmosphere,

On your skin?

What do you feel within?

Anything you hear,

Smell?

What does it feel like to be in your dream,

In your fantasy?

You may be doing this already,

But I welcome you to start to journey into your fantasy.

And know that since this is your fantasy,

You are free to rewind,

Redo things.

If something didn't come out right or something doesn't feel right,

You're welcome to change it up immediately.

Anything is possible.

Notice how easy it is to fantasize when you don't have the pressure of getting back to work or whatever you were doing looming over your head.

And notice how refreshing that is to allow yourself the permission to go deeper into your daydream.

Let this fantasy wash over you so that this is more than a mental movie.

This is a full-body,

Full-hearted experience.

And you'll find that the emotions that come up may surprise you.

The way you decide to act in your daydream may surprise you.

But know that nothing is off the table here.

We are not constrained by who you are,

What you do,

What's possible in our dreamland.

And sometimes,

If there's a particularly nice moment in a fantasy,

See what happens when you go back and play it again.

Does anything feel different?

Is there anything you want to add?

Maybe by replaying that part,

Your daydream decides to go in a completely different direction.

And welcome that change.

At this point,

It may feel like the daydream,

The fantasy is taking you for a ride.

Enjoy that ride.

Drink it all in.

Now we'll start to close out our daydream.

And we'll gently come back into present time in our bodies,

Staying in our relaxed position.

And after letting our daydream movie play out all the way,

We can linger in this space.

It's like that feeling that you get when you finish a movie and you're watching the credits,

Or you're not really paying attention to it,

But you're just kind of marinating in what just happened a little more.

Feeling the sense of satisfaction at letting your fantasy go until completion,

Or go further than you ever let it before.

Feeling satiated after denying ourselves so long the chance to fully daydream.

Feeling those last few wisps of emotions and bodily sensations from our fantasy.

There is something so incredibly healing when we allow room for fantasizing.

And meditation is the perfect time to do so,

As it is just a place to simply be without needing to do anything or get back to anything.

We can indulge in acting things out in the safe space of meditation that we would never be able to do in the real world,

Whether it's because it's not physically possible or socially acceptable.

In letting ourselves feel into these fantasies,

Parts of ourselves that we pushed away get the chance to come out and play.

Emotions that we don't allow ourselves to feel in the outer world flow forth.

And it's just a great relief to finally allow yourself the pleasure of doing something you denied because you deemed fantasizing as silly or a waste of time.

In this meditation,

We've allowed our mind-body system to tune up,

Enjoy the solidity of the integration between fantasy and reality.

These two polarities are no longer forcibly pushed apart,

But more free to communicate,

Inspire,

And nourish each other.

In letting ourselves fantasize and daydream,

Our lives in the outer world and reality can be so much more rich.

What are you feeling?

Inspired?

Excited?

More at ease?

More yourself?

Enjoy this fresh flow.

Feel that new alignment.

Perhaps taking some time to acknowledge yourself for being brave enough,

Being free enough,

Being playful enough to daydream,

To fantasize.
