In this brief meditation, observe a natural object periodically (daily, weekly, or monthly). As you return to it repeatedly, notice its subtle changes and nuances, reflecting the passage of time and the rhythms of nature. With each viewing, allow yourself to become fully present, absorbing the object's beauty and energy. Let go of distractions and immerse yourself in the moment, connecting deeply with the natural world around you. Rediscover the profound peace and harmony found in the simple act of observation and connection with nature. Through this practice, cultivate a sense of mindfulness, gratitude, and wonder for the ever-changing beauty of the world.

This practice might be done every day,

Every week,

Or at least every month.

This practice makes most sense with your eyes open.

Set yourself up in front of a natural object.

A rock.

A tree.

A flower.

A section of grass.

You could be seated or standing or perhaps lying down.

Spend a few moments getting settled.

Feeling the gravity around you.

Becoming more quiet and as still as you can manage.

Taking a moment just to check in with yourself.

How are you feeling physically?

How are you doing spiritually?

How's your breath?

How's your pulse?

How's your mind?

Slow and steady.

And then look closely at this natural object.

A blade of grass.

A branch of a tree.

A puddle.

Notice its dimensions.

Volume.

Perhaps mass.

Examine it left,

Right,

Up,

Down.

Color.

Shape.

Irregularity.

How is it?

Look.

Touch.

Smell.

Listen.

What's changing?

After you've done this the first time,

Ask,

What's new?

What's different than the last time I was here?

Breathe it all in.

Gaze with rapt attention.

Generously.

Expansively.

And acutely on this object.

Understand it.

Hear it.

What's new about it?

How has it changed?

How might it be changing even now at this moment?

Wonder openly.

Gazing.

Kindly.

Spend as much time as you can,

As often as you can.

Examining.

Inspecting without judgment,

Just to practice noticing.
