Calling Out

Whatever you believe, remember that "god" is just a word we use to describe all that we can't comprehend - everything that is awesome, transcendent, mysterious. You can use the words "Higher Power," "The Force," or "Almighty" - whatever suits your understanding. Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan counseled openly talking with God as a core Jewish meditation. Rabbi Marc Gellman and other teachers say that all prayers are a version of "Thanks," "Oops," "Gimme," and "Wow!" Let's try that in a non-dogmatic way.
