Find a steady seat for this meditation.

This is a breath and heart meditation that's influenced by Ram Dass but also through this quote by Mahatma Gandhi.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

In your steady seat,

Feel that your body is relaxed and your heart is open.

The shoulders are back and down.

Palms are up on your knees.

If you'd like,

Index fingers to thumb.

Begin to breathe consciously through your nose and as you inhale feel that this breath is coming into your heart space,

Filling up the heart.

And as you exhale,

The energy from your heart is moving out to the space in front of you.

Inhale,

Fill the heart and exhale.

Let this energy move out into the space in front of you.

Now imagine an animal being in front of you.

A being you admire for their compassion,

For their generous heart.

Imagine a tunnel from their heart to your heart and now as you inhale,

You drink in this liquid love from their heart to your heart.

And as you exhale,

Any stuck emotions and tensions are dislodged,

Washed away,

And enter the tunnel from your heart to their heart.

You're breathing in liquid love from their heart.

It washes over you,

Dislodges tension as you exhale,

Giving it back to their heart.

This divine animal being in front of you takes on your tensions,

Your sorrow,

And transforms them,

Recycles them,

Uses this energy to generate more love.

It takes a special enlightened being,

A being who can unconditionally love to do this.

Continue to inhale liquid love from this being and exhale release any sadness,

Stress,

Or worry.

Every inhale fills your heart with compassion and gratitude and every exhale clears away any obstruction from your open-heartedness.

Keep breathing this way.

Once you feel a shift in your being where you really feel lighter,

More free,

More open-hearted,

Then you can begin to inhale liquid love from this divine animal and exhale liquid love,

Light,

And gratitude back to their heart.

Keep breathing this way and fill them up.

Express your appreciation for their being,

For their love.

Once you're able to practice this meditation with more and more ease,

You can then include human beings.

You can begin with a human being you admire or adore.

Continue to inhale liquid love from this being and exhale release any sadness,

Stress,

Or worry until you feel that shift and then it's love to love exchange.

Then you can move on to beings who you currently find difficult to love,

Maybe even difficult to be with.

You can explore this meditation so you can open your heart to all beings.
