Sit in a steady seat,
The tall spine.
Wrap your body with a blanket or a shawl.
Include your head and as you wrap the fabric around you,
Wrap it so that you feel secure and safe,
Protected without feeling constricted.
Feel your entire being is held,
Is being cared for from the mother within and the mother that surrounds you.
As we meditate upon Muladhara chakra,
Our root chakra,
We go back to our earliest memories.
As you sit and you feel steady and protected,
Begin to breathe consciously through your nose.
Invite the inhale to come from your root,
Up the center channel of your spine,
All the way to the crown of your head that is covered.
And then exhale from the crown all the way down,
Shushumna Nadi.
Acknowledge the nourishment the breath provides.
It is your life force,
The source of all.
And as you feel steady and protected and nourished,
Do your best to recall your earliest memory from your childhood.
And notice who is there with you.
Can you see their faces?
What if anything is being said?
Can you hear their voices?
What activity is taking place?
Are you watching or are you doing?
As you recall these memories,
Notice what emotions arise naturally.
Feel that you are steady and being held.
You are protected.
Do your best to notice any details with the situation.
To recall as accurately as possible.
And as you do this checking in with your feelings,
With your emotional body.
Anytime you feel overwhelmed with the memory or with emotion,
Bring your attention to the feeling of being held here.
Being wrapped in protection and love.
Staying here a few more moments with your breath.
Feeling steady in whatever situation arises in your memory.
Internally say,
I will remember so that I can move forward through this memory.
I am able to change patterns of behavior that are detrimental to my well-being,
To my physical health,
To my mental state,
And to my spiritual awakening.
Breathe from the root all the way up to the crown.
And exhale from the crown all the way down to the root.
Feel that you are steady and protected.
Aum.
