The 99 Names of God (Al-Asma ul-Husna) come from Islam and each reflect a specific quality of the Divine. While difficult to translate, this hour-long contemplative practice is in English and will hopefully inspire the listener to pursue the beauty and power of this practice in Arabic. These 99 names are "outward signs of the universe's inner mysteries" according to Sufi mystic Ibn Arabi. May it bring you new insight and understanding into God's many attributes.

Hi,

This is Beth.

Welcome to a practice with the 99 Names and Attributes of Allah.

This practice has its roots in Islam.

However,

To make it more accessible to those who would ordinarily not be exposed to the Muslim religion,

I am sharing the 99 Names of God in English here.

Release the body's weight to whatever support is beneath you.

Allow the spine to relax but be tall and sovereign.

And begin to slow and deepen each inhalation and exhalation.

Take in the energies of each of these beautiful names.

Notice that each name may impact you in different ways.

You'll have about 30 seconds of reflection upon each name.

Our practice will complete with the sound of a bell.

If you enjoy it,

Please be sure to follow my profile here on Insight Timer for more meditations and live events with me.
