So the instructions for this siddh,

Just so you know what I'm doing here,

Will follow more or less a very classic set of instructions in the Buddhist literature called the Satipatthana Sutta.

And historically,

The Satipatthana actually is often broken up,

And each piece is taught as a discrete meditation,

But I actually find that it can be very helpful taken holistically,

Kind of bringing it all to four at once.

And so that's what I'll guide you through,

And then some quiet period for you to just work with the instructions.

So we start just by noticing the shape of the body.

You just know what the body's doing.

You could be still adjusting,

You could be scratching an itch,

You could be standing,

But all you need to know is where the body is in space.

And it doesn't take intense analysis.

There's just a part of your mind that knows where your body is.

That's it.

So you know where the body is right now,

How the legs are bent,

How the arms are,

What the head's doing.

Now include in the attention,

In addition to knowing where the body is,

Know what the breath is doing.

Know if it's coming in or going out.

Right now in the attention,

There is an awareness of the shape of the body and of the movement of the breath.

And just take a moment here as you see this body as it is.

Just note how fragile it is.

For this momentary configuration of cells that will pretty soon fall apart.

Not unlike all the early spring flowers that are now starting to fade.

This organism briefly blooming.

And now start to notice the physical sensations in the body.

Some areas are going to be heavy,

Some are going to be light,

Some will be tingly or hot or cold.

And the mind can see all of this.

It can see the shape of the body and it can see the breath and it can see sensations.

You have the ability to see this,

Just like you could see a painting and the frame and the wall behind it.

You can see all this stuff.

There's a body here breathing and feeling.

There's no right or wrong thing to be doing.

You just know how it is.

Just like this.

And the last thing to notice is the body.

And then the next thing to add is an awareness of the mind.

A gentle kind of awareness of the mind.

It might be assessing over something that it wants like dinner.

It might be impatient,

Frustrated,

Bored,

Wanting this whole experience to be over.

It might be tired.

It might be excessive about the past and future.

You might be wondering if I'm full of it.

There's some combination in those things.

And your only job for the rest of this meditation period is to watch the mind and body.

Just know what's happening.

Do what you need to do to stay present enough to watch the show.

And that's it.
