This simple meditation is also known as a body scan,
Where you focus on and purposefully relax your entire body,
One area at a time.
Take plenty of time in each body area,
Allowing yourself to relax and de-stress as much as possible.
When you're comfortably seated in a chair,
Take a deep breath and place your feet flat on the floor,
Really feeling your feet in contact with the ground underneath you.
And take three deep breaths.
We're going to start by focusing on your toes,
Scrunch them up as tight as you can and then release.
Now relax your ankles,
Relax your calf muscles,
Soften your knees,
Let go of your thigh muscles,
Remember to let any thoughts you may have float up and away from you in an air bubble.
Now relax your buttocks,
Relax the pelvic area and begin to notice any tension you may be holding in your back.
Breathe deeply in and as you breathe out,
Slowly relax and release any of that tension in your back.
Now your shoulders,
Lift them up to your ears and then release completely.
Wonderful.
Now relax your neck,
Soften your jaw muscles and finally relax the top of your head.
I'd like you to hunch your shoulders up one last time and as you release your shoulders,
Any remaining tension can sink down and flow out.
I'll take a few more deep breaths and enjoy this feeling of relaxation and calm for a little longer.
