Are you having a difficult time letting go of something, or someone, from your past? This will help. This is an energetic cord-cutting for releasing your attachment to something (or someone) that isn't serving you. It's nice to do all year round, but it's significant to do on new years of all cultures and full moons. You'll want to be laying down for this one.

Hi,

Thank you for joining.

This is Morgan at Splendid.

Yoga.

Happy New Year.

If you're listening to this on your new year,

This is a cord cutting ceremony for letting go of anything from the past that hasn't been serving you.

Lay down as close to the ground,

As close to the earth as you can get,

Ideally on sand or grass.

But if you can't get outside,

Lay on the ground and really lay down.

Notice as the body starts to unclench itself as it allows itself to fall into the power of gravity.

How does it feel?

Is it shuddering to a stop?

Releasing and fits and starts?

Can it release at all or does it just feel like this is it?

This is where you're at.

Can you allow your shoulders to melt?

Imagine the melting of candle wax,

The melting of a marshmallow really soft,

The melting of butter on very hot pancakes.

Soften your face.

Relax your jaw.

What does it need to do to relax?

Does it need to move around first?

Does it need to shudder a bit?

What does it need to do to do nothing at all?

Relax your cheeks.

Feel the weight of your skin.

As gravity pulls it down towards your ears,

Towards the back of your skull,

Towards the earth.

Soften the corners of your lips.

And soften the corners of your eyes and the space between your eyebrows.

Release any facial expression.

Facial expressions are the manifestations of the judgments of your minds.

Release how the body processes pretty much every emotion,

The things we like,

The things we don't like.

Relax all those muscles.

Give up the need to like or not like anything.

Allow it to be.

Allow yourself to be still,

Relaxed.

Imagine the best thing that's happened to you in this last era of your life,

Whether it's the last year,

The last decade,

The amount of time you've spent in your home.

This phase of your life,

What is the best thing that's happened for you?

Allow just one word,

Not the whole story,

Just one word,

One name,

One event to pop into your mind.

Notice how your body feels.

When you think of that best thing,

How does your body feel?

Did any facial expression come back?

Did your facial muscles move in response to the memory,

To the acknowledgment of that best thing?

Did your breath change?

Did your heartbeat change?

Did your body move at all in response?

Find neutral.

Relax your body,

Your feet,

Your ankles,

Your knees,

Relax your thighs,

Your hips,

Relax your belly,

Your chest,

Your shoulders,

Relax your arms,

Your elbows,

Your wrists,

Your fingertips,

Relax your face.

Relax your scalp,

Every hair on your head.

Now imagine the hardest thing that happened to you in this last era of your life.

The person who hurt you the most,

The loss,

The grieving.

Just the one thing that was so hard it was almost impossible and maybe it's still happening.

Just one word.

Don't tell yourself the whole story.

Just one word.

One name,

One event,

One emotion.

This person,

This thing,

This illness that caused you so much suffering.

Imagine a golden line of energy from your heart.

Imagine to this suffering,

To this person who's hurt you,

Whose inner child was suffering even more than you.

Imagine that golden connection between you and your suffering.

This thing that you lost,

This grief,

This anger,

This disappointment,

This betrayal.

Imagine,

Visualize a golden light between your heart and your loss.

You can picture the person and that golden light connected to their heart.

You may even see the phrase and the connection.

This person no longer serves you,

But they did for a time.

This emotion,

This grief,

This anger,

The disappointment,

This betrayal no longer serves you,

But it served you for a time.

Thank it.

Say it out loud.

Say thank you.

Thank you to this person who caused you so much suffering.

Say it to this emotion that was so powerful,

So overpowering that it forced you to change,

That it forced you to wake up and to see your suffering and to see that all humans suffer.

Thank it.

Say thank you.

Thank you for breaking my heart wide open so that I can reach new depths of enlightenment,

Of joy.

Thank you for the opportunity to grow stronger than I ever knew I would have to be.

Thank you for helping me grow with all that gratitude coursing between this golden light connecting your heart to your suffering.

And then a giant pair of scissors,

Whatever they need to look like.

Now don't allow the scissors to cut that cord yet,

But imagine,

Line up the scissors,

Opened up so that they're hovering over that cord between you and your suffering,

You and this person.

Don't do it yet,

But after I tell you to cut this cord,

You're going to place your hands over your heart.

Imagine that ball of light just squirming right back into your heart,

Right back into your rib cage,

Right back into your aura.

And you,

My sweet,

Will be liberated.

Imagine that golden light flowing between you and this person,

You and your suffering.

And when I say,

Cut the cord,

Ready?

Now cut the cord,

Place your hands on your heart,

Feel that energy returning to your soul to your team.

Notice how the body feels to have its energy back.

What facial expression has come up?

And their tears,

Smiles,

Laughter,

All of it.

What did the breath do?

What happened to the heartbeat?

I invite you to move into this new phase of your life,

Truly liberated.

I invite you to move through this next phase of your life,

Allowing all of the suffering that arises to soften into compassion.

I invite you to bring into this next phase of your life an abundance of gratitude.

If you can say thank you in the hardest of moments,

If you can look at your suffering and say thank you,

Thank you for opening my heart,

You have achieved enlightenment.

That's it.

It doesn't get much more complicated than that.

It's pretty simple.

Infinite gratitude is enlightenment.

All right,

Let's get you ready for this next phase of your day.

Wake up your body,

Take a big breath in through your nose.

Let it slide out your mouth.

Spread your fingers and your toes out wide.

Move your arms and your legs away from your body.

Bring your knees into your chest and roll to your right side.

Come up to a seated position,

Something comfortable.

Place your palms over your heart.

Breathe in gratitude for yourself.

Exhale out gratitude for yourself.

Inhale in gratitude.

Exhale out gratitude.

Inhale in gratitude.

Exhale out gratitude.

Move freely with gratitude throughout your day.

Namaste.
