This podcast features a ten-minute insight meditation practice followed by a short talk on the art of interviewing someone. We, as human beings, want to talk about the experiences that have shaped us, even if some of those experiences are painful, therefore the interview should not be reserved for only journalists. We all can ask someone questions and listen with great curiosity and empathy.

Welcome to We Are Home,

The podcast.

Hi,

I'm Fimo.

Let's meditate.

I invite you to find a position that is comfortable for you and to close your eyes or simply lower your gaze and take a few moments to connect with your breath.

Noticing the air that is entering and leaving your body.

This is your time to go inward and to see what is alive in you,

To notice,

To acknowledge,

To embrace whatever comes up.

You are the light of our dreams.

You you you you you you you Whatever you notice that you're lost in thought Take a deep breath in Come back to your body and continue to observe whatever rises in you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you legendary television and radio host Larry King believed that listening was pretty much everything.

He once said,

And I trust my instincts to come up with the questions.

Even if the answer fully answered the question,

I'm ready in my head to go somewhere with it.

There's no dead air.

As I reflect on my interview with Selena,

There are a few questions that I wished I had asked,

And a few pivots that I think I could have made.

But in the end,

I must say,

I enjoyed our dance.

I've often equated interviewing with dancing.

Now,

I'm not a dance expert,

So I'm not going to say interviewing is like a Viennese Waltz or a salsa or the tango.

But to me,

It's always been clear that the interviewer and the interviewee,

The person answering the questions,

Need to show up with their dancing shoes and be prepared to move.

And it's through the dancing that a certain degree of closeness,

Of intimacy,

Is cultivated.

This week,

See if there's someone in your life that you'd like to interview.

Arrange a day and time where you can have a lengthy exchange with this person.

Maybe you can prepare some questions beforehand,

But most importantly,

Show up with a lot of empathy,

Curiosity,

And a desire to listen.

Remember,

We want to talk about the experiences that have shaped us,

Even if some of those experiences are painful.

I'd like to end today's episode with a positive affirmation that you can repeat with your full voice or quietly to yourself.

Today,

I care for the Earth by caring for my fellow human beings.

Today,

I care for the Earth by caring for my fellow human beings.

Thank you for being here.

See you next time.
