Welcome to We Are Home,
The podcast.
Hi,
I'm Fimo.
Let's meditate.
As you close your eyes,
Take a deep breath in,
Breathe into your belly,
And slowly let that breath out.
Breathe in this way ten times,
Giving your body and mind time to arrive here in this moment.
Notice how your belly rises with each in-breath,
And how it falls with each out-breath.
Now,
I invite you to let go of your control over your breath and allow your body to breathe however it wants to.
It might help to place your attention in that area of your body where you notice your breath the most.
So that might be at the rim of your nostrils,
Or in your chest,
Or down in your belly.
Place your attention in one of those areas,
And whenever you notice that your mind has drifted away from your breath,
Take a moment to acknowledge wherever you are and gently guide your attention back to that area of your body where you notice your breath the most.
Breathe in this way ten times,
Giving your body and mind time to arrive here in this You You Continue to observe your breath Allow your Breathe in to Keep you here in the present moment You You You You You You You You You You You You You Slowly bring your attention back to the room and When you're ready You can open your eyes You Quick question How good are you at making yourself do the things you know you need to do?
Even if you don't want to do them.
Is this something you're good at or is this a bit of a struggle?

Said Talent without discipline is like an octopus on roller skates There's plenty of movement,
But you never know if it's going to be forward backwards or sideways I'm convinced that everyone yes everyone has talent But not everyone has self-discipline or enough of it and so we're all over the place Doing a whole lot of things,
But not necessarily accomplishing the stuff we set out to accomplish you see Self-discipline is what pushes us to deliver on our best intentions and goals Even when we don't feel like doing so even when it gets difficult or frustrating if we have self-discipline We are able to put off short-term pleasure in the pursuit of long-term gain Psychologist John S Webb believes that all forms of self-discipline can be boiled down to two basic ingredients which are making yourself do things you don't want to do and Stopping yourself from doing things you want to do but shouldn't Some may equate a disciplined life of structure with feelings of confinement It may even sound boring to some but speaking from experience.
This is completely untrue I've come to realize that in many ways Self-discipline is really the foundation of my inner peace and happiness It allows me to have greater command over my mind and to choose actions that are in my best interest Having discipline frees me from succumbing to laziness and from giving in to a fear of failure Self-discipline allows me to overcome biological and societal realities in order to live the life I truly want Life coach Rob Diles suggests that some of our problems with self-discipline may stem from our complicated relationship With the word discipline.
He says we see the word discipline as a shameful word Your child does something that they shouldn't you discipline them your dog poops on the floor You discipline it but self-discipline should never be seen as a bad thing The core of self-discipline is self-love because we don't use self-discipline to do the things that are bad for us Self-love is self-discipline We should enjoy our lives Have a little pizza here and there but don't make it an everyday or every meal type of thing Because that's not self-discipline Self-love is self-love because it's not self-love This week take some time designing your environment to be conducive to the goals you've set for yourself Maybe you can start by asking yourself the following question How would I achieve my goal if I had zero willpower?
How would I achieve my goal if I had zero willpower?
This may mean not bringing the junk food that you find irresistible into your home or turning off your wi-fi at night so that you're not tempted to stay on social media or Netflix or amazon prime or disney plus when you know,
It's in your best interest to go to bed It's always better to avoid temptations rather than trying to resist them Self-discipline people understand that they don't have nearly as much willpower as other people think they do And they understand that willpower is a fragile thing that often fails us as a result They don't rely on it and get creative about other ways to stay focused and committed I'd like to end today's episode with a positive affirmation that you can repeat with your full voice or quietly to yourself I set boundaries and limit distractions So that I can achieve my goals I set boundaries and limit distractions so that I can achieve my goals Thank you for being here.
See you next time
