Hello,
I'm Diana and I want to welcome you to this meditation.
It is letting yourself be unproductive.
Let's get started.
Find a position that feels supportive rather than impressive.
You don't need to sit upright in perfect stillness.
You don't need to do this meditation well.
Let your body settle.
If it feels safe,
Gently close your eyes or lower your gaze.
Take a slow breath in and let it out without effort.
And again,
In.
Notice if there is a subtle urge to use this time productively.
To get something out of it.
To improve.
You don't need to improve here.
For a few moments,
Allow yourself to exist without producing anything.
No results.
No outcomes.
No visible progress.
Just breathing.
Many of us were taught,
Quietly or directly,
That our value is measured by what we accomplish.
How much we do.
How much we manage.
How useful we are.
Notice how that belief feels in your body.
Does it create tension?
Pressure?
A subtle bracing?
You don't need to analyze it.
Just notice.
Take a slow breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Imagine loosening that invisible grip.
You are not a machine.
You are not a project.
You are not a performance.
You are a living being with rhythms.
Cycles of energy.
And cycles of stillness.
And stillness is not wasted time.
Let your shoulders soften.
Let your jaw relax.
Imagine placing all your responsibilities down beside you for a few minutes.
They will still be there later.
But right now,
They do not need you.
Feel what happens in your body when nothing is required.
There may be discomfort at first.
Restlessness.
A voice that says,
I should be doing something.
That voice is familiar.
It learned to equate activity with safety.
Gently acknowledge it.
And then return to your breath.
Being unproductive does not make you lazy.
It makes you human.
Even the natural world rests.
Fields lie fallow.
Trees stand bare.
Animals hibernate.
Nothing in nature produces constantly.
So,
Why would you?
Bring your attention to your chest.
Feel the steady rhythm of your heart.
Beating without performance.
Without applause.
Without targets.
Your worth is not increased by your output.
And it is not reduced by your rest.
Let those words land slowly.
You might quietly say to yourself,
I am allowed to exist without achieving.
Rest does not diminish my value.
I am worthy.
Even when I am still.
Notice what softens as you say that.
Imagine yourself moving through a day where you are not measuring yourself by what you completed.
But by how gently you treated yourself.
By how honestly you showed up.
By how well you listened to your body.
There is nothing to earn here.
Stay with your breath for a few moments.
Let it be enough.
Inhale.
And exhale.
Let yourself be unproductive in this moment.
Not as rebellion.
Not as collapse.
But as balance.
And when you are ready,
Begin to gently bring awareness back to your body.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Notice the quiet rhythm of your breath.
Move your fingers a little.
Wiggle your toes a bit.
You can return to your tasks later.
But you will return as someone who knows this.
Your worth was never on the to-do list.
When it feels right,
You can softly open your eyes.
Thank you for joining me today.
Till next time.
