Yoga is not only a philosophy,
It is a path of action.
Patanjali describes this as Kriya Yoga,
The practice of living with purpose.
It is built on three essential pillars,
Discipline,
Self-study and surrender.
Together,
These actions help clear the distractions of the body,
Speech and mind.
The first pillar is Tapas or self-discipline.
It is the burning zeal in our practice,
The heat that helps us stay consistent and focused.
Through Tapas,
We purify the body and move beyond the pull of our senses.
The second is Swadhyaya or self-study.
This is the process of reflection,
Learning to observe ourselves from the skin to the core.
Through the study of wisdom and our own inner experience,
We begin to understand who we truly are.
The third is Ishwara Pranidhana,
The act of surrender.
This is the practice of humility and letting go of the ego.
It is the recognition that we are part of something larger than ourselves.
By following these three actions,
We stop wandering aimlessly in our thoughts.
We begin to live with a sense of stability and unshakable serenity,
Regardless of our circumstances.
We move away from aimless wandering and toward a mind that is steady and clear.
Practice helps us stay steady and awake within our everyday lives.
