Hello beautiful humans,
My name is Darius and I am so thrilled to talk to you about joy.
I'm not even kidding,
I am obsessed with joy.
From my observations,
It's because joy,
Joy is for kids.
Children think about joy.
I'm an adult.
I don't have time to think about those silly things.
Three letters,
It's teeny tiny,
And most people dismiss it.
They're like,
I haven't thought about joy in such a long time.
I'm trying to be happy.
I'm trying to live a meaningful life.
And the older I get,
The more I know God speaks loudest in paradoxes and things that don't seem to make sense.
You know,
That's why I'm obsessed with the intersection of sacred and silly.
Silly is Like Joy's best friend.
And if you pay attention.
And look at some of the most spiritual people on the planet,
Maybe some of the most spiritual people,
You know.
There seems to be this trend that they have an abundance of joy.
And I don't think that's by accident.
I think they are onto something.
Personally,
I believe joy is the key.
That opens up the gate to our wildest dreams i'm not even kidding it is the most powerful entity i can think of.
To help creators create more.
Joy changes the game.
And today I want to share with you three types of joy,
Three approaches to joy,
Three ways to bring more joy into your life.
Okay,
And they get incrementally more challenging.
So if you're up for the challenge,
Stick around for all three.
Number one,
I call these.
.
.
Green doors it's a mashup of open doors.
And green lights.
It's both combined.
It's that place,
That moment where the universe is very clearly just opening things up for you and saying,
Come on in.
That feels like joy because.
It just feels amazing.
It's like you're on a river,
An incredible river on a beautiful sunny day.
And the river's just taking you exactly where you want to be.
You've ever experienced that green door experience where just opportunities are opening and you just keep going and keep going and keep going to see where it gets you.
So look for green doors,
Instances where the universe is clearly telling you,
Yes,
Okay,
Number one,
Green doors.
Tons of fun.
It's so much fun.
That's why it's the easiest,
Right?
Yes.
But the challenge is if you are only looking for that type of joy,
You miss out on so much more.
The second type of joy,
Let me see if I can.
.
.
Use this as a little demonstration.
So this is Joy.
But it's sitting inside a hard shell,
So different than green doors.
It requires some work.
It requires getting through this dense resistance on the outside.
This is often for my professional work.
People have ideas they have creative projects and they're trying to get into it but there's this.
Hard shell of resistance from years and years of stories about why you can't do the thing or launch the thing or create the thing or write the thing.
And there's a special type of joy that comes when you figure out how to open this up and get to that delicious experience in the middle.
And then after that hard work,
You get to the place you've been dreaming to get to and you soak it in and there's just so much joy.
So the second type of joy.
Is the diamond.
Found inside resistance.
Okay,
Often connected to some sort of creative project.
And oopsies,
The third type of joy.
This might be the title of my book.
I've actually mocked it up because I love this word so much.
Let me explain before i tell you the word now i'm just gonna tell you the world it's called.
Joygasm.
Now let me explain,
Okay?
When we experience something going wrong.
All of us have been there.
When we experience criticism,
All of us have been there.
When we experience like truly difficult things in our lives.
Most of us,
If not all of us,
Have this tendency to spiral.
For example,
I get so many incredible comments on Insight Timer,
Just the most incredible comments you've ever seen.
Partially because the community is just so kind.
And then every once in a while,
I'll get up.
Bad comment.
And what happens?
I fixate on that bad comment.
Perhaps this is just.
How the human brain works.
If you've gone through some sort of breakup,
If you've gone through some sort of tragedy.
You know,
Our body can hold.
The trauma and we can relive it.
Sometimes if it's really bad,
We get PTSD,
Which is terrible,
Right?
And we relive it.
We relive it and we can feel it and we can smell it and it's like,
Constantly amplifying and growing until we get some support.
I believe.
We can fight fire with fire.
I believe there is a way in which you can train your body to have a full body experience of joy.
Full body experience of joy because when things go right after all that hard work,
Sometimes we're like,
Okay,
Next thing.
Wait a second,
What?
You just did that incredibly challenging thing.
Someone just said something really nice to you.
You got the praise,
You launched the project,
You found the partner,
And then we just kind of move on.
But when things go wrong,
We internalize it and we hold it and then we relive it.
So why can't we internalize it?
Hold it and relive it when things go right,
And not big things,
Teeny tiny joyful things.
We let it work its way through our body and I'm working on a whole meditation just around this concept of joygasm.
It has nothing to do with sexuality,
It's just The orgasm is a perfect word to kind of describe that full body experience that comes with joy.
And it can literally be a breath.
Okay,
Maybe you want to practice with me.
We need much more preparation,
But let's just see what happens,
Okay?
We close our eyes.
And we've just spent this whole time in our head space.
So this will be a big one.
Quite the challenge,
But let's see what happens.
We get still for a moment.
We start taking deep breaths.
Bye.
The breath is so powerful for joy.
And as you take a deep breath,
Make some noise with your exhale and you start to feel the vibration of your voice.
I want you to picture Your heart is smiling.
Your heart is mine.
It makes me giddy.
Joy works through my body.
I don't try to hold it,
I don't try to understand it,
I just breathe with it.
Ha ha ha Picture your heart smiling,
Maybe.
Your heart smiling makes your face smile.
Maybe you start to feel some goosebumps.
Cool.
We move the energy through our body.
Okay,
One more breath here.
Big exhale out.
And slowly,
Slowly,
Slowly coming back,
Back,
Back,
Eyes opening.
Okay.
Maybe just me.
Maybe I've been practicing this concept of joygasm,
Maybe I've been practicing letting my joy free,
And maybe,
Just maybe,
You felt something.
Even 1%,
2%,
Something.
It's there.
It's always been there.
There's a reason that this incredible thing is right under our nose here in case we get lost here in case we get overwhelmed here to remind us that we can slow down,
Get still,
Take a deep breath.
And come back.
Come back,
Come back to the joy.
That lives.
In such great abundance.
Right inside your heart.
Okay,
Thank you.
Thank you for going on this silly sacred journey with me.
My name is Darius and I will see you next time.
Bye.
