In this meditation, we lean into the power of silence to discover what's there. What happens when we strip things down and tap into awareness? This 20-minute guided meditation has no music and can feel uncomfortable to some. But I encourage you to tap into the stillness and see what comes up. Optional journaling prompts: - What did you notice in the silence? - What did that feel like for you? - Were there any surprises that came up? - Did the silence teach you anything? - Did you learn anything about yourself in the quiet?

Good morning and welcome to The Artist's Morning.

My name's Darius and I'm so grateful that you and I get this time together.

Let's begin our practice if your eyes are open.

Let's gently close them now as we begin to go inwards together.

Beginning to take deeper breaths,

Breathing into the bottom of your belly.

Allowing your belly to build with the breath.

And then letting it go,

Connecting with the sensation of the exhale as it moves from your belly to your lungs,

Through your throat.

Feeling the vibration of your breath through your throat and mouth.

You have probably noticed that today's practice has no music.

That is,

Of course,

By design.

You might have also noticed that there are longer gaps.

Gaps.

These types of meditation,

For some,

Can be more challenging.

In these spaces between my voice guiding you,

We are bringing in stillness and silence.

The invitation today is just to notice what's here in the silence.

For some,

The silence is comforting.

For others,

The silence can be very loud.

Our internal thoughts turn up the volume.

The invitation today is just to notice what's here and allow what happens when we step back and watch.

Maybe the silence has gotten easier for you.

Maybe not.

Taking a few deep breaths,

Bringing your awareness towards the sensation,

The experience of breathing.

Connecting again with the vibration of your breath in your body.

Again,

Simply noticing.

Noticing sensations.

Noticing sounds.

No judgment,

No attachment,

No agenda.

Our practice today is noticing and simply allowing.

And if your mind gets active,

That's okay.

That's what creative minds do.

We are practicing allowing.

If you want to deepen the experience,

It's very simple.

We take a few deeper breaths.

The breath brings us back to our bodies.

Coming back to the breath.

Breathing into the bottom of your belly.

Nice deep breath.

Big exhale.

Big but also soft and gentle.

We're going to go into silence one last time today.

And the invitation is the exact same invitation.

We're going to notice.

We're going to allow whatever's here just to be here.

We're going to come back to our breath.

Really simple.

Bravo,

Dear artist.

Bravo,

Artist.

Bravo,

Dear creator.

You made it to the end of another meditation.

And for that,

I am so grateful.

Maybe this was a very easy,

Joyful meditation for you.

And maybe it was one of the most difficult yet.

Either way,

I personally believe the stillness,

The silence,

Has a gift for each and every one of us.

A message only for your ears.

And for those that are joining us live at The Artist's Warning,

We're going to continue this exploration with a journal prompt connected to our practice today.

And of course,

If you're catching us on a replay,

You can do the same.

Put some time on your clock.

Get your journal out.

If you're catching us on Insight Timer,

I'll make sure to include the journal prompt in the description below.

For now,

Thank you,

Dear friend.

Thank you for going on this journey with me.

My name is Darius,

And I will see you next time.

Meet your Teacher

The silence after the storm. All the emotions are still so strong but this was comforting my friend. Today we lay my dad to rest in his final resting place. With full military honors. It’s going to be an extremely difficult but important day as this is his final journey. The quiet of this meditation was the end. I really am so grateful for you helping me through this time. Now the peace is here. Thank you🙏🏻💕
