Good morning and welcome to The Artist's Morning Writers Club.
This is a short guided meditation made specifically for new and emerging writers.
Let's begin our practice.
If your eyes are open,
I'd like to invite you to close them now.
As we begin to go inwards together,
Nice and slow,
Taking longer,
Deeper breaths,
Signaling to our mind,
Body,
And being that we are safe here,
We're allowed to go slow here,
Consciously moving from your headspace,
Gently,
Slowly into your heart space.
How we do this is we take a deep breath and follow the breath down,
Down,
Down,
Down into our heart space,
Allowing our hearts to expand in every direction,
Take up more space.
We soften our forehead.
We soften our jaw.
We have a tall,
Gentle spine,
Feet grounded,
Heart open,
Voice open,
Vision open.
You're making a little bit of noise with your inhales and exhales,
Allowing your voice to know it is safe here.
Your voice is safe here.
Your voice is welcome here.
Your voice is needed here.
And I am making this meditation on December 23rd,
Which is two days removed from the winter solstice,
Which is the darkest day and night of the year.
We're going to use the theme of darkness to guide us.
I'm going to share some affirmations.
There's nothing you need to do.
Receive those in which support you and let the others float away.
Let's take a nice deep breath here together.
Big exhale out.
I am not afraid of the dark.
I am not afraid of the dark.
I am not afraid of my dark.
I am not afraid of uncertainty or doubt.
I am not who I used to be.
I am someone else.
I am not who I used to be.
I am someone else.
I have access to strength and courage.
I have access to creativity and self-expression.
I am not afraid of the dark.
I am not afraid of my dark.
The dark has deep wisdom for me.
It has lessons.
It has stories that will impact my community.
I am not afraid of my dark.
I am not who I used to be.
I am someone else.
I am not who I used to be.
I am someone else.
I am a writer.
I am a storyteller.
And today I choose to let the dark and the light dance together.
Today I choose to let the dark and the light dance together.
I am not afraid of the dark.
I am not afraid of my dark.
There is deep wisdom,
Stories,
Guidance available in the dark.
And today I choose to allow the dark and the light to dance together in incredible ways.
Let's take a deep breath to bring our meditation to an end.
Breathing in.
Big exhale out.
Thank you for meditating with me,
Dear artist,
Dear writer,
Dear friend.
To those that are joining us live at the Writers Club,
I'm going to put 66 minutes on the clock.
Share a writing exercise on today's theme and allow us to explore.
And perhaps if you're open to it,
If you're interested in it,
See if there are any gems,
Any wisdom,
Any stories in the dark that are ready to be shared with your community.
Thank you once again for meditating with me.
My name is Darius and I will see you next time.
