Good morning and welcome to the Artist's Morning.
My name's Darius and today's practice will be on the theme of resetting,
Refreshing,
And starting new.
Let's begin our meditation.
If your eyes are open,
I'd like to invite you to gently close them now as we go inwards together,
Going nice and slow,
Giving yourself a moment to land,
Landing in your seat,
Landing in your body,
Allowing any parts of you that have not yet settled to do so now.
And if there are parts of you that are not yet ready to settle,
That's okay too.
Let's connect with our breath,
Just noticing where it's at this morning.
Is it shallow?
Is it deep?
Quiet?
Does it have a sound?
If you were to take deeper breaths now,
Pay attention and see if that feels any different in your body and your mind.
Maybe you like it,
Maybe you don't.
Take three deep breaths now on your own and just notice.
Well done,
Dear artist.
A simple act of slowing down and connecting with ourselves,
With our bodies,
With our hearts,
It can make a big difference.
Today's meditation,
I'd like to share some very simple statements,
Some simple mantras.
Just allow them to connect with you.
You get to decide how deep you take them in.
There's no right or wrong way of doing this meditation,
I promise you.
Let's take a deep breath here together,
Breathing in,
Holding at the top,
Where yesterday was like,
Or last month,
Last year,
Last decade was like.
Today is new,
And you and I have never been here before.
Today is new,
And we have never been here before.
It's a new page,
A new day,
A new canvas,
A new space.
It's a new page,
A new day,
A new canvas,
And a new space.
If you're open to it,
Let's breathe that in now,
Letting go of what was,
Letting go of what could have been,
Clearing,
Clearing,
Clearing.
It's a new page,
A new day,
A new canvas,
A new space.
With ease,
With gratitude,
I'd like to invite you once again to let go of what was,
Go of what could have been,
And make space for new.
Today is a new page,
A new day,
A new canvas,
A new space.
Let's take a moment to notice the subtleties of this new space.
What does this new space feel like?
Does it have a color?
Does it have a temperature?
What's its impact on your heart?
However this new day,
This new page,
This new canvas makes you feel,
I sincerely want to say,
It's welcome here.
Maybe you're excited,
Maybe you're dreading it,
Maybe something completely different.
None of that takes away from the fact that it truly is a new day.
We've never been here before,
And sometimes for me it's easy to pull in the past and almost punish myself and destine myself to repeat the same thing.
Today I choose to let go of what was.
Today I choose to let go of what was.
Today I even choose to let go of what could have been.
Today I choose to let go of what could have been.
Those things are not easy for me to do,
But I do them so that I can make space for what's new.
It's a new page,
It's a new day,
It's a new canvas,
It's a new space.
What will you create?
Let's slowly come back,
Back to our bodies,
Back to our seats.
Wherever you went,
However far you traveled,
However open or resistant you were,
I am grateful we had this time together.
Before we close our meditation I want to say something important.
You don't need to let go.
You don't need to forgive.
You're allowed to stay in the past or wherever you happen to be.
All of us are on our own journeys and we can work at our own pace,
But if there is a longing in you for something different,
For something to change,
One tool can be letting go.
It doesn't need to be all at once,
It doesn't need to be aggressive or blunt.
It can happen with ease and with gratitude.
Thank you for meditating with me.
My name is Darius and of course for those of you that are joining us live at The Artist Morning,
I'm going to put 20 minutes on the clock and allow us to do some private personal journaling.
Thanks for meditating with me.
I'll see you next time.
