Good morning,
And welcome to The Artist's Morning.
My name's Darius,
And wherever you are in the world,
Whoever you are in the world,
Whatever you're going through on this particular day,
In this particular moment,
I'd like to send you some love.
I know,
That's a strange thing for someone maybe you've never met yet to say,
But if you're open to it,
I'd like to send you some love.
Today's meditation practice will be an opportunity to receive if you're open to it.
Today's meditation practice is built for days where we could use a little extra support,
A little extra love and guidance.
As with all of my meditations,
There's no way to do this wrong,
So give yourself permission to just be as you are,
Lean in as much as it serves you,
And remember,
You can always come back to this meditation at any time.
Let's begin our practice,
If your eyes are still open,
Let's gently close them now as we begin to go inwards together.
I'd like to start by just carving out a little bit of time for you to feel what's here.
How is your heart this morning?
And if you're having a hard time feeling your heart,
What you might want to try is place one or two hands over top your chest and gently,
Lovingly push down on your heart.
Breathe into your heart.
How is your heart this morning?
How are you truly?
You can place your hands down on your lap or anywhere that feels comforting as we slow things down and allow you to connect with yourself,
Giving ourselves permission to feel all the feels unconditionally,
Whatever you're going through,
No judgment,
No fixing.
So short meditation today,
And we're just going to allow ourselves to be exactly as we are.
In this next part of our meditation,
I'm going to call in some support.
Maybe you are open to the support and maybe you're not.
What's important is that you feel into what's honest and real for you this morning.
What's kind and supportive of you this morning on days that I'm going through a lot and feel overwhelmed,
Days where I find it challenging to reach out to friends and family for help and support.
On those days,
Sometimes I ask for God to help.
Sometimes I ask God,
Dear God,
Will you sit with me?
Will you sit next to me?
Will you hold my hand as I go through this?
God,
I could really use a friend right now.
Are you open for some support and love from God in this moment?
And remember God can mean anything you like.
There's no specific concept I'm referring to.
And some days there's so much resistance,
My heart feels so numb that I feel closed off to any and all support.
The truth is those are the days where I could use support the most.
I'm going to repeat the prayer one more time in case you could use the support as well.
Dear God,
Will you sit with me?
Will you sit next to me?
I'm going through a lot right now,
And I could really use a friend.
Dear God,
Will you hold my hand?
This is our last song this morning,
And I want to remind you that you're allowed to go really slow.
Sometimes all we need is literally someone to just sit with us.
They don't need to solve anything.
They don't need to change anything.
And each of us has a different relationship with ourselves,
With our lives,
And with God.
My understanding of God is God is unconditional love.
Whatever you have,
You can give to God.
You can give your fear to God.
God will take it and transmute it.
You can give your sadness and your grief to God.
You can give your anger and rage to God.
God will receive your loneliness.
