I remember being a little girl and sitting on the floor of my room,
Staring at myself in the mirror.
I'd observe the pores stretched across my cheeks,
The tiny hairs perked up on my eyelids,
And the buttoned shape of my nose as though I were seeing myself for the first time.
I'd run my fingers along my face,
Feeling the smoothness of my skin.
I'd stare at the reflection of my eyes for so long that my face would eventually become blurred.
Then I'd blink and refocus my eyes for clarity again.
I remember feeling like a foreigner in my body.
As a young girl,
I was aware of the temporality of this life and that my body was merely a vehicle for my soul.
When I engaged in a staring match with my reflection,
I knew I was only seeing one version of myself.
This physical adaptation represented only a tiny fraction of who I was.
The truth of my being was that I was all-knowing,
All-powerful,
And already whole,
Even when I didn't usually feel that way.
The truth of my soul was that I came here to learn lessons,
Create relationships,
And experience the magnificent mystery of being alive in human form.
I've always known this,
But as is the nature of life,
I slipped in and out of remembering.
As I got older and welcomed the sweetness of first love,
The anguish of loss,
And the understanding that my existence felt astonishing and daunting,
I learned to trust the instincts growing within me.
They were showing me how to live.
They were teaching me how to love.
Some days I absorbed guidance like rain seeping into soil.
Others,
I didn't know how to rely on the emotions speaking to me.
This dance with intuition and the nature of my soul is an ongoing ballad that lifts me from ordinary life and into union with the divine.
The more I listen,
Respect,
And trust,
The deeper my well of knowledge grows.
The more connected to myself I become,
The more I'm my own confident,
Advisor,
And friend.
You too have this bond with your soul.
The soul that's lived many lifetimes and has traveled through the vastness of the universe.
The soul that already knows everything it needs to.
If you feel disconnected from your voice,
Close your eyes,
Be still,
And ask that it speak to you.
Ask that you hear,
See,
And feel the messages meant for you.
Ask that it be easy.
Ask that it feels like returning home.
Focus on your breath.
Allow the inhale to arrive in your body like the tide meets the shore.
Then release it as though the ripples are returning to the waves.
Feel your breath coming in through your nose and then release it through your mouth.
Breathe long and slowly.
Exhale long and slowly.
What do you want to work on?
What are you seeking answers to?
How do you want to feel?
Mentally ask yourself a question.
You're going to allow the answers to come to you.
Maybe you want clarity on your life's purpose or the meaning of a relationship.
Maybe you want to know your next steps regarding a specific situation.
Or maybe you're looking for a general message for the day.
Don't worry that the answers won't arrive and don't force an answer to appear.
Instead,
Simply sit in silence and observe yourself.
What sensations are you feeling?
What visions are you seeing?
What scents are you smelling?
What sounds are you hearing?
Whatever it is that arises,
Don't judge it.
Don't try to label it.
Don't force it to be anything other than what it is.
Simply allow the answers to enter your awareness and treat them as though they're unexpected teachers.
Let them speak to you in their own unique way.
Now,
Ask once more if there is anything else you need to know.
Continue to observe and listen.
Thank yourself for taking the time to tap into your intuition.
Honor the wisdom that resides within you.
Bless yourself for speaking to your higher self.
Take one deeper inhale and lift your hands above your head.
Then exhale and drop them to your heart in prayer position.
Say the following to yourself or aloud.
The answers I need are within me.
I deepen my connection to my intuition and my source of wisdom every day.
I trust myself to guide me through life.
I am my own best friend and confidant.
I always know the way.
Thank you.
And whenever you're ready,
Bring some movement back into your fingers and toes.
And open your eyes.
