Hail and welcome to Mortar and Pestle Monthly!
Join me as we take a look at creating magic for each month by bringing goodness of the goddess from the garden to your cauldron.
During this workshop,
We will explore herbs of the moon for making a magical lunar oil.
The moon has fascinated humankind since the beginning of time.
The Celtic tree calendar is based on lunar cycles,
And there are seasonal names for each month's full moon under the Gregorian calendar.
To Wiccans and Pagans,
The moon shows us the feminine aspect of the divine.
She is praised in songs,
Poems,
And rituals.
This workshop explores various herbs associated with the moon and their use in creating moon oil for both ritual and enjoyment.
Our herbs for this working will be fennel,
Jasmine,
Mugwort,
And white sage,
All in essential oil form.
You will also need a carrier oil,
Such as grapeseed oil,
As it is generally unsafe to apply essential oils directly to the skin without this type of dilution.
As a general rule,
Use approximately 2 drops of essential oil to 10 milliliters,
Or 0.
33 ounces of carrier oil.
And you will need a glass jar or bottle,
With a dark color being preferable so as to protect the oils from UV light.
Fennel is associated with healing,
Protection,
And purification.
Jasmine is associated with prophetic dreams.
Mugwort is believed to promote psychic abilities,
And sage promotes protection and wisdom.
If you wish,
You may also include dried herbs that correspond to the essential oils.
This is my personal recipe,
So feel free to adapt it as you like and make it yours.
The most important ingredient is your intention.
Begin with a clean glass jar,
Bottle,
Or other container of your choice.
Using incense,
Or a smoking bundle of sage,
Invert the container over the plume to energetically cleanse it.
Gather your essential oils together,
And,
Holding your hands above them,
Charge them with your intentions.
You might choose to say something like this.
Here do I call upon the energies of these gifts of nature,
To craft an oil blend,
In honor of the moon,
The silver goddess.
May this oil grant healing,
Protection,
And knowledge,
To all who use it.
So mote it be.
Now begin to blend your essential oils into your carrier oil,
Mindfully,
And with love in your heart.
As you do so,
Call to mind the aspects of the moon that speak to you most powerfully.
Once you have everything blended to your liking,
Your moon oil is ready for use,
In anointing yourself,
Your altar tools,
Dressing a candle,
Or using in a diffuser designed for oils.
To further amplify your magic,
You might choose to make this oil on a Monday,
Which is the day of the moon.
May you be filled with magic,
And may the light of the moon always brighten your path.
Blessed be.
