Heidi, Cherry & Vaya - Tree House
This story is a funny entertaining bedtime story all about the cats making a tree house. Life Lessons = Cherry learns all about why it's not good to be bossy to your friends and also about the opposite, being a people pleaser, and why that is not good either.
Transcript
Are you ready to meditate with Kari?
Make sure that you're laying down in your bed and everything is just right.
The lights are just right.
You're wearing your comfortable pajamas.
You've already brushed your teeth and you've gone to the toilet.
Now you can relax and let go of your day.
Heidi,
Cherry,
Veya,
Some cats from the cat club,
Larry,
Harry,
Mackenzie and Chip were all in the forest.
They decided that they were going to make a tree house.
Cherry was beyond excited.
Beyond excited.
She could barely breathe.
She was being very bossy and she didn't realise how bossy she was being because she was so excited.
She was shouting all sorts of instructions.
OMG,
OMG,
I just can't,
I can't believe that we're finally going to get a tree house.
I can't believe it.
I've always wanted a tree house.
I've always wanted one.
I've always wanted a tree house.
I've always wanted to be able to go,
Oh,
I'm just going to go to the tree house and I'm going to go be alone and I'm going to go think and I'm going to go have some time alone or I'm going to go to the tree house and I'm just going to do some arts and crafts or maybe I'm just going to go to the tree house and I'm just going to paint a picture and just be really artistic and flamboyant and like alone.
Yeah,
I'm going to do that.
I can't wait.
I absolutely can't wait and like,
And like I think we should do it like this and then maybe we should have like a chimney on top so that we could have like a fireplace in the tree house and then maybe,
Maybe,
Maybe we could have like a chest of drawers and I can keep all my clothes in there and maybe,
Maybe we could do,
What could we,
Oh,
Maybe,
You know what,
Maybe I could have like a water fountain in the middle because they always sound so nice and then when I'm meditating I can chill out to me water fountain vibrations.
I'm just so excited.
Oh,
Larry,
Larry,
Don't do that there.
That's not supposed to go there.
Larry,
I said that big plank of wood,
That big plank of wood,
Get that big plank of wood Larry,
Not the small plank of wood and then,
And then,
And then maybe I'll have a.
.
.
Heidi said,
Cherry,
Calm down.
You're not being very nice to our friends.
Cherry didn't even notice.
Heidi said,
I think we should make a blueprint of what we want the tree house to look like.
Cherry said,
Blueprint?
What's a blueprint?
What on earth is a blueprint?
Can't we just build it?
I have so much inspiration.
I have so many visions in my mind.
I have so many ideas.
Who needs a blueprint?
Whatever a blueprint is.
Heidi said,
A blueprint is where you map out the size,
The walls,
The design,
Everything on paper.
So we know exactly what we're doing and we have some kind of direction to follow.
I appreciate all of your excitement,
Cherry,
But when you're too excited,
Things can get a little bit crazy.
You can get a little bit bossy and that means it's not very organized and then people's going to get upset and frustrated because they're doing the wrong thing or you've changed your mind again or you've decided that they're not doing it the way that you want them to do it.
A blueprint just means that we can get organized and we can have a plan and that will make the project for all of us go so much smoother.
Cherry was a little bit resistant,
But she understood exactly what Heidi meant.
She calmed herself down a little bit by going for a walk and walking around a tree for a few circles and taking deep breaths.
She did at that point then see that she'd been very bossy to Harry and Larry and apologized.
I'm so sorry guys.
I'm so sorry.
I just get so excited and then I got bossy and then who likes a bossy boots?
No one.
And that was me.
And I apologize and I really didn't mean to keep telling you what to do like that,
But I was just so excited and I had so many visions in my mind and I thought if you use the wrong plank Harry or Larry,
Then you know things would not go as I wanted.
But now I totally understand that I was being a little bit irrational.
So I apologize.
Harry and Larry both nodded and said it was fine.
No worries.
They understood what Cherry could be like when she got super excited.
Thank goodness.
And they still loved her and they liked her very much.
But still it was good that Cherry apologized because it's not nice to be bossy like that and treat people in a bad way and talk to them and shout at them in a bad way and then just expect people to still like you.
People won't like you when you're bossy and you're angry and you do things like that to people.
So you have to apologize if you know that you were in the wrong and that's exactly what Cherry did.
After maybe only 30 minutes,
Heidi had the blueprint and it was great.
Everybody had put their input on what they wanted the treehouse to look like.
They all had different ideas,
But they wanted to keep it simple so that it would be easy to make.
Otherwise they would not want to do it and they'd probably all start to procrastinate and say,
Oh,
I don't feel like going to the forest today just because it's too difficult to make the treehouse.
Whereas if they made it simple and they kept to the plan,
Then they'd all get the work done together and it would be an enjoyable project rather than something that they really dreaded doing and then they would never do it.
Right?
So we all have to like homework that you know you don't like doing and you don't like it because you're not good at it.
And when you're not good at it,
It makes it difficult.
And when it's difficult and you don't understand it,
Then we avoid it because we don't want to feel like we're not very good at something,
Do we?
We want to feel like we're awesome at everything,
Just like Cherry does.
So this is what they were going to do.
They were going to make a treehouse with a very simple but fun plan.
At one point,
Faea got a very big splinter.
Oh,
She said.
Oh,
Oh,
Oh,
Me doesn't think I can carry on.
I tried my hardest.
I really did.
But I don't think I wore the right outfit.
Heels were definitely not appropriate.
And,
And my dress keeps getting in the way.
And every time I try and climb up part of the treehouse that we've already made,
I just keep getting my beautiful dress stuck on on like different spiky things.
And I'm really upset about it.
And I'd really prefer not to do this.
So I'm not going to do it.
I'm going to sit down and I'm going to see if I can get this splinter out of my paw without fainting.
And then yes.
Cherry said,
That's all right,
Faea.
Now she was being very opposite to Bossy.
She decided she needed to make up with her friends and she was going quite overboard and she become a little bit of a people pleaser.
It's all right.
It's all right,
Faea.
You just sit there.
We don't need your help.
We love you.
It's fine.
You can just do whatever you want.
And yeah,
Yeah.
She looked at Heidi and said,
Is that all right?
Was that not Bossy?
Heidi said,
No,
That wasn't Bossy.
You're fine,
Cherry.
Cherry said,
All right.
Now I'm just a little bit stressed.
Like I'm going overboard.
I know I am.
I'm going overboard.
I told Harry and Larry like they were my favorite people in the world and I love them very much and like,
And like,
I know I was exaggerating a little bit because they're not because you and Faea are my favorite people in the world.
And,
And you know,
I know I knew I was exaggerating and I knew I was like going a bit over the top trying to please them to make them like me again.
But I couldn't help it,
Heidi.
I couldn't help it.
I was like,
I'm so worried now.
I'm so worried that they're not going to be my friends,
Even though they are my friends and they said everything was fine about me being Bossy.
I'm now really worried that they're not going to be my friends.
And now I'm just like going overboard and like almost telling white lies because I really do like them,
But not that much.
She said,
Just calm down,
Cherry,
Just be yourself,
But be nice,
Right?
Don't overdo it because when you overdo being nice,
Then it gets a little bit creepy.
You start to be a people pleaser and then your feelings don't come into account anymore because all you want to do is please,
Please,
Please,
Please,
Please.
And all you do is just say,
Yes,
Yes,
I'll do that.
Yes,
I'll do that.
Yes,
I'll do that.
Sometimes even when you don't want to,
And that makes you sad or even worse,
It makes you angry inside because you keep doing things for everyone and no one seems to appreciate you.
It's a vicious circle,
Cherry.
Just be yourself,
Be nice,
Don't be bossy,
But don't be the extreme people pleaser either.
Just be nice.
I need to walk around the tree again.
Cherry chose a big tree and walked around three times as she took deep breaths.
She came back and she said,
I think I'm all right.
I think I'm going to be my awesome self once again.
I know I'm awesome.
I know I am.
I don't know why I'm having a bad time today.
I mean,
I don't know why I'm questioning myself.
It just shows you,
You can be like the most awesome cat in the world.
And then all of a sudden something happens and you're like,
I don't even know why I'm awesome anymore.
Do people even like me?
I am even,
Am I even a good cat?
Am I,
Am I even like awesome the way I think I'm awesome?
I like totally questioned myself,
I totally questioned myself.
I lost myself,
But I'm back.
Right.
Okay.
What's next?
What do we have to build?
Cherry got back to work.
Heidi showed her what we needed to do next.
They all worked together really,
Really well.
They took different parts of the project.
And then when the part of the project that they were working on was built and complete,
They would bring it back and then attach it to the tree house.
It took them three days of going home,
Going to bed,
Coming back,
Starting to build again,
Building all day.
Then when the sun went down,
They would go home,
Shower off,
Go to bed and then come back again and build all day again.
And then finally on the third day,
By that evening,
The sun was going down.
It was such a lovely,
Lovely color in the forest.
It was like an orangey pink glow to the evening as the sun disappeared down away for the night.
It was warm in the forest and there was a little bit of a rustle moving through the trees as the wind blew the leaves.
It was very,
Very peaceful and quiet.
And all the cats,
Heidi,
Cherry,
Veya,
Harry,
Larry,
Mackenzie and Chip,
Stood there and just stared at their accomplishment.
It was amazing.
It was a tree house with two levels,
A lower level and an upper level.
The lower level they designed so that they could all play like board games and do crafty activities and all just like sit on different puffy couches and hang out down there.
And then the upper level was made so that it had a skylight and all the cats could lay down and look at the stars when they slept over in this amazing tree house.
And it had comfy pillows and cat beds,
Fluffy blankets all over the floor.
So the entire top level was like a big giant bed so they could have like sleepover parties and or you could just sleep there alone if you wanted some time alone.
It was absolutely perfect.
There was a giant ladder outside that could take you to both levels so you didn't have to go through the bottom level to get to the top level.
You could get through to the top level just from the outside ladder if you wanted to.
But there was also a hole in the bottom level ceiling and a ladder so that you could climb in from the bottom level if you wanted to.
They were so proud of themselves.
The seven cats had worked together so well.
They took directions off each other,
They listened to each other's ideas.
There was no bossiness anymore.
There was no people pleasing anymore.
They just all really worked well together and they got the job done and they had a lot of fun doing it.
They had lots of laughs and jokes.
At lunchtime they all shared each other's packed lunches so every day they got something exciting and new and different.
It was just great.
It was a really fun project and now it was time to try out the treehouse.
All the cats had brought their pajamas.
They all got snuggled down on the second floor.
Each one of them with a fluffy,
Soft,
Comfortable blanket.
And they all stared up at the stars.
There were so many of them.
Hundreds and hundreds and thousands of stars and because there were no lights in the forest there wasn't any lights that would dull the stars because of the reflection like when you're in the city.
So the stars and the sky was so clear you could see every single star up there.
Each one of the cats,
One by one,
Fell asleep just staring at the stars.
Maybe dreaming about flying up there and visiting them.
Floating around like a big,
Giant spaceman just bumping into different stars like bumper cars.
They had the bestest sleep out there in nature in the treehouse that they had built.
I mean how cool is that?

My son absolutely loves every last one of these stories. He is obsessed with the voices of the characters. These stories are exciting for him but so relaxing and he frequently falls asleep before the end. Thank you Cory. x
