First,
Understand that it's common to feel worse in the morning during a period of anxiety and stress,
So this phenomena is normal.
Whilst you've been asleep,
There's been nothing on your mind,
So upon waking,
All of those stories and situations come rushing in.
You are also faced with the prospect of an entire day ahead,
And this causes us to worry and feel stressed.
To attend to this,
Simply become very aware of the sensations of breathing.
Allow the breath to rise and fall,
And simply be fully aware of the sensations of the breath.
You might find it helpful to slow your breathing down,
As much as is comfortable and feels natural.
Simply slowing the breath,
And being very attentive to the sensations.
Do not engage so much with all of the situations and stories in the mind.
The mind is likely to be calling forth every difficult element of your current situation.
Worrying about the day ahead.
Pay absolutely no attention to all of these stories in the mind.
Instead,
Focusing your attention entirely on the sensations of breathing.
There is no day ahead.
There is only the present moment.
So be very attentive to the present moment,
And you will find that all is well.
You might be feeling awful right now,
But if you recall,
There are often these waves of anxiety,
Stress,
And negative emotions in the morning.
But these do subside by the end of the morning,
By the afternoon,
And by the evening.
Everything has settled and subsided.
This has happened many times in the past,
And today is no different.
So simply attend to this feeling in the here and now,
And know that it will pass.
You will find from time to time that you have become lost on a train of thought,
Caught up in overthinking,
Rumination,
And worry.
When you notice this has happened,
Simply return your attention to the sensations of breathing and the present moment.
Noticing that in the here and now,
All is well.
There are no situations.
There are no stories.
Simply continue to breathe slow,
Gentle.
Be very attentive to the sensations.
How does it feel to breathe?
And even attending to the manifestation of this stress and anxiety in the body.
What is the raw sensation of this tense,
Agitated feeling?
Simply be aware of it.
Don't worry about it.
Don't panic.
Just be very aware of how the body is responding to this current period of tension and worry.
And just breathe into this.
Slow down.
Don't try to get rid of the feeling of anxiety or stress.
Instead,
Simply remain present and trust that these horrible feelings will pass.
How does this wave of negative feeling truly feel when experienced without a story in the mind,
Without any mind activity added at all?
Just the pure sensation itself.
It might not be pleasant,
But you will find in the present moment it is bearable.
So simply breathe and allow this energy to play itself out.
All is well.
In a moment,
We will be leaving the formal aspect of this guided meditation,
Although you may wish to sit a while longer in this quiet,
Accepting presence.
I hope this wave of anxiety and stress subsides for you soon,
And I hope the day plays out for you in peace and serenity.
Thank you for doing this meditation with me today.
Take care,
Be well,
And stay present.
